A vintage October 1977 photo expressing my dreams. My scrapbook pages to date have all been fairly staid and straightforward in lay-out. This page is a change of direction into a more arty lay-out. On a beautiful October day I was home from college for a weekend and left with my little sister to entertain while our parents were away. I grabbed my cheap cartridge-type camera and enticed my sister to go out and take some photos to capture the magical autumn beauty surrounding us. Pre-digital we only got one chance to snap a shot and might have to wait weeks to see the result. But, I've always thought my little sister nailed it with this shot, even though time hasn't been kind to it with colors fading into odd hues. I was dreaming of far away lands and ready to float away from my Midwestern farm upbringing. Two years later that dream came true! As my mother would say: "You can take the girl from the country, but you can't take the country from the girl." I still dream of that magical day sitting on a hay bale in what to me is now a far away land...
