I remember going to the Old North Church a long time ago - back when I was a teenager. I can't remember about the lanterns though. Great use of the brochure!
Oh my...the brochure with the church at night is breath-taking. It is one of those brochures I would have used in lieu of photos. It makes your layout so beautiful. The minute I looked at your layout, I was silently saying Longfellow's poem. LOL!
It was getting late so we had to choose the things that were most important to see along the Freedom Trail. I chose the Old North Church so Bill dropped me off while I went in to see this old church where Paul Revere had placed the lanterns with the signal – “One if by land, two if by sea”. I was disappointed to learn that some of the lanterns from that day have survived but there is no authentication proving any of them were the ones displayed in the Old North Church that night. I was also disappointed that the ones that “might have been” used by Paul Revere on that night are on display in Concord rather than here in the Old North Church. I would have sworn the actual lanterns were on display here in 1970 but I guess the mind plays tricks on you after that many years!
