As we were driving around in the golf cart that we had rented, we passed a cemetery that just beckoned us to take a closer look. I am so glad we did!

We've visited cemeteries all over the world but this is certainly one of the most unique. I have never seen so much color in a cemetery! Lavish crypts were everywhere in this grid-like cemetery, sometimes just inches apart with barely room to squeeze between them! There were so many beautiful statues, mostly of adult angels or young cherubs. There were a lot of handmade crosses , crucifixes, and other religious tokens.

The graves were so artistic and colorful. Instead of tombstones, the residents had small houses or miniature churches, all painted in bright blues, yellows, and greens with lots of statues and crosses. Many visitors left opened soft drinks and food for the deceased as well as toys and things children enjoy on the graves of those who died too young.

It was sad to see that a lot of the graves were in disrepair or needed a fresh coat of paint. They stood out in sharp contrast to all the ones that were being so lovingly taken care of.
