Saturday, June 6th, 2015 - Today we got up early, packed up everything we had taken to the Big Island with us, and headed out to enjoy Hilo a little bit more before our late afternoon flight back to Oahu. I don't think I've ever been so happy to leave a place as I was to leave that condo!

We drove by the King Kamehameha statue in Hilo (like the one in Honolulu) and drove to the beach. We went to the scrapbook store that I have always loved in Hilo. Sadly, I found it under new ownership and with the new owners , there were new prices! I used to buy a lot here, but this time, only a few sheets of paper that I could only purchase in Hawaii. All I can say about the new prices - OUCH!

Whenever we come to the Big Island I like to go to the Mauna Loa factory and purchase biscotti. They sell the absolute best biscotti I have ever tasted in my life! My favorite is the coconut biscotti and it even comes dipped in white chocolate or milk chocolate! They also sell isle after isle of goodies made with macadamia nuts!

After I had made my selections, but before we went to the cash register, Bill made note of the name of the company that made the biscotti (Big Island Delights), and called them to see if the biscotti was available anywhere else, hopefully for a lower price.

He discovered that the Big Island Delights factory is located in Hilo - right down the street from the Mauna Loa macadamia nut farm and factory! I put my biscotti back on the shelf at the Mauna Loa gift shop and we went to the Big Island Delights gift shop.

I could not believe how many more choices of cookies, biscotti and other products they sold here! We learned that that this is a family-owned business and the daughter was running the gift shop! Their only factory was right here and they shipped to other islands where it is sold.

I bought 4 packages of biscotti and Bill bought shortbread cookies - some dipped in milk chocolate and some dipped in white chocolate. Then I discovered the cinnamon bagel chips. I could eat these all day!
