We escaped to the park to do some hiking because I had read about the big tree there. We parked in the lot and traveled down the 0.7 mile Big Pine Loop trail. Big Red is the biggest Ponderosa pine ever recorded and Oregon's heritage tree. It is 162 feet tall, approximately 500 years old, 28"11" in circumference and is one gnarly tree! It took three photos to get in all in. I pieced them together.
