I have a black basket I bought a year or so ago from Wal-Mart in the office section. It holds all my scraps I originally had my stamps in the black basket. But that was before I bought Tim Holtz "old" binder he use to have. I guess now he coming out with a few new products this year. One of those products I plan to get is his new stamp binder. I plan to use my Tim Holtz stamps in one binder and all my non Tim Holtz stamps in the other binder.
Joyce, I sympathize!! All that paper would send me over the edge!! I'm not OCD, or a clean freak, but since I don't have my own dedicated space (yet), I have to clean up more often. I keep my scraps by color in the plastic 12x12 containers. Have the prints in a separate container by color. And I won't keep them if they are too small or narrow. Just remember, the scrap police won't come and take you away if you throw something out! If you can't put them in the trash, recycle!!! And Betty has a good point. Someday it will be someone else's problem!!
Hey Doc, I still have my scraps in a stacked drawer unit by color. 80% of the time I have the colored scrap I need. Is it a pain? YES...but always hated waste, so rather than toss I just use as needed, knowing full, well when I die my kids can deal with it! ;)
Oh, my, my, my, the only thing I could see is keeping the larder pieces and throwing all the rest away. I had to as I don't have a big room to sort it all out. I use the bigger papers for cards, layouts, borders for photos etc.
Wowzer Joyce, I really didn't know how many of us are paper Junkies and keep all those scraps for "whenever'. My scrap room is always way to messy ALL the time as my space is really to small......actually I keep adding more and more. I think I am kind of a hoarder and when I buy something I really like, I don't use it so it will always look nice. Why??? maybe because I have to reorganize to make this work and I started with papers I don't like or have use for. I give it to my scrap gal for the special people needs.
Kind of reminds me of my scrap paper pile in my house. I had it organized into drawers by color. When we decided to move into the RV and become full-timers this was one of my problems (besides having so much stash),
Joyce, if you want to see how I dealt with my many paper scraps go to page 3 of my gallery, November 5, 2015, "My Craft Palace". The picture in the gallery shows a plaque my best friend made for me that I have hanging in it. There are over 20 pictures of how I organized stuff and the scraps picture is the 14th picture I believe. I bought a graduated paper organizer from Hobby Lobby that is black and white so you can check it out if you want. I started organizing from the smallest to the largest scraps and by color with the smallest and put them in labels baggies.
lol...Hi Joyce. I know what ya mean about the scraps piling up. Tho the scraps can be very handy, they can become a problem. Sometimes rather than digging, Ill get out new papers...thus making even more scraps! I go through my scraps once in a while and throw out the smallest pieces in the lot. It looks like you keep all the teeny tiny bits, I dont do that unless theyre unusual color or specialty paper such as foils or glitters :o)Ro
This is the tote I had in my studio, half full. I have made it known that I am having issues with all of my "scrap" paper. So I wanted to share exactly what I was talking about. This pile is part of it.
