Journaling: Our next adventure would be Kilimanjaro Safari – we got there around 2:00 with our Fast Pass. It was not the optimum time to go since the animals are not as active in the afternoon but here we were ready to see whatever we could. We walk a twisting path amid a lush garden gateway to make our way to the rendezvous point of Kilimanjaro Safaris expedition, the touring company for our adventure into the wilds.
At the loading area, we board an open-air safari vehicle that whisks us off to begin our African safari adventure. The tour traverses a 100-acre savannah, during which our tour guide directs our attention to some of the 34 different species of birds and animals found throughout the game preserve. On the dashboard of each row of the vehicle, we find labeled pictures of each of the inhabitants. Some of these include antelopes, black rhinos, white rhinos, warthogs, ostrich, giraffes, zebras, elephants, crocodiles, hippos, baboons, white-bearded wildebeests and lions.
