I altered some white plastic eggs that I bought last year from Walmart. They were quite realistic looking and not the ones that open.
I first spray painted them with cream paint. Then I painted them with acrylic paint and then splattered them with dark brown paint that I watered down a bit. I put the finished eggs on a bed of spanish moss into two glass containers, one on each side of my mantle.
