Journal:
Having missed the boat tour, we had a whole afternoon and evening to fill. So, after checking in at Lake Powell Resort and grabbing a quick lunch at the marina, we headed back to town to see what we could find to do. One of the things Sarah had found while researching “what to see” in Arizona was Antelope Canyon. She had wanted very much to do this, but we hadn't been sure we could fit it into our schedule. When we got into Page, we spotted the bright teal trucks of the Antelope Canyon Slot Tours. We purchased our tickets and, after a short wait, we were loaded into the back of our assigned truck, with our guide Albert driving. After bouncing along, wind blowing our hair, for about 15 minutes, we turned off of the paved road and onto a dirt road. Then it really got bouncy! The dirt road eventually grew into a wide expanse of red sand. From the looks of the land, each vehicle made its own path through the deep sand. Along the way we spotted several groups of free-ranging cattle. One group was trying to seek shade under a small tree – the high that day was over 100 degrees. Thanks goodness the dry heat in Arizona is much easier to withstand than our humid heat in Georgia. We travelled between high mounds of red dirt, finally emerging at the entrance to the canyon.

This is another page for our Arizona album...

TFL :)
