I made this shabby chic jumbo tag for a friend who recently lost her mother. I wanted to make a piece that would reflect spring and new life that was filled with love so I used some of my most prized pieces that have been in my crafty hoard vault and been treasured gifts from crafty friends.

For the centerpiece, I die cut a bird from the K & Company Floral Collection called Bird on Pink with a circle die, coating the eyes and beak with Glossy Accents for lifelike shine. I framed it with tiny white pom pom trim for a little whimsy.

For the tag base, I used a tag die to cut thin chipboard and covered the front and back with designer paper from the same K & Company collection. Then I went all out with the embellishing, using paper flowers from a variety of shops and friends to create a large floral cluster on the lower right and a smaller cluster on the upper left. I even added some more hand fussy cut flowers from the designer paper and popped them up on foam adhesive to add to the dimension while still coordinating with the focal point bird.

Lastly I added gathered lace, braided multi-color pastel trim, faceted candy-like beaded trim, and a fun and fulsome tassel made from 1/4" lace and pink and silver eyelash trim.

I hope all the love that I put into the creation of this card can be felt by my friend when she receives it.
