This is for the following challenges:

National Scrapbooking Day Crafting Style Challenge - I craft scrapbook pages mostly for the stories. This page happens to include one of my favorite stories ever!

National Scrapbooking Day Die Cut Challenge - I cut the following from the Silhouette: Stars, Hammer, and Screw heads. I also used the Silhouette Sketch pens to write on the photo captions and the boxes around them. I then cut the captions out on the Silhouette.

Journaling:
In the Summer of 2015, Ariel and I went to the TECH Center open house. At that time we met Mr. Kosino and he told us all about the construction classes and Ariel was extremely interested. We talked about how motivated Ariel was and Mr. Kosino told us about the Gold Hammer Award and that a female had never won it. I then told him that Ariel had a goal and that she would win the award. Fast forward to Fall 2016 when she was in Mr. Biggs' and Mr. Hodges‘ class. She continued to excel in construction and was involved in building a Habitat for Humanity house. In Winter of 2017, her classmates chose her as a candidate for the award. She talked with her English teacher and learned how to interview since that was her weakness. In the end, she reached her goal, won the award and made history! We couldn't be more proud of her.

The LISD TECH Center Gold Hammer Award Banquet took place 5/10/17. The award, started in 1969, goes to the top student from 2 years in the TECH Center Programs Building Trades and Residential Construction. 4 student candidates are chosen by their peers within the Residential Construction program, and approved by their instructors. Then the candidates go through an interview process with a 5-member advisory committee, who ultimately determine the winner. Ariel is the first female winner in the history of the award.
