These are very simple pages made with pp from the $ store that's been in my stash for years. But, this layout is more about journaling the story of Boots. TFL!

Journaling reads: When Sarah was in first grade, her para-pro was Melanie Thaxton. Over time, we got to know Melanie pretty well. So, when her cat had kittens she asked if we wanted one. Already having Molly (dog), we felt we had to say no. But, Daddy decided that he wanted a kitten. He got a cute little black female with white paws and named her Boots. Mama was allergic to cats and couldn't have much contact with Boots, but Daddy would bring her into the screened porch to play and to swing in his lap. The most memorable story about Boots was one time as Mama and Daddy were heading home from town, Daddy spotted a black cat on the side of the road, obviously having been hit by a car, and just knew it was Boots. He got home, changed clothes, and went out back and prepared a grave. Then, he trudged about a quarter mile up the busy road that ran in front of their house and hauled the poor cat back to his house. He was pretty winded when he got back, so he laid the cat down beside the grave. That was when he realized that it wasn't Boots. This cat was obviously larger. It was a male cat. Sighing with relief, he said “I wondered why that cat was so damned heavy. I just figured it was the dead weight.” Being the kind-hearted man that he was, he went ahead and gave the unknown victim a nice burial. When Boots wandered home later, she was quite unaware of the chaos she had caused by her roaming from home. She got worse about roaming in the years after Daddy passed away. Eventually, she wandered off and didn't return. Maybe she was looking for Daddy, or maybe she pined away from a broken heart. I like to think that maybe she found another kind soul that could play with her, and hold her, and love her…
