Journaling: "When the kids were young, our local radio station did a promotion for several years giving away gift certificates for a free ice cream at Brusters. In order to receive this certificate, someone had to call in your name on your birthday. Then your name would be announced on the radio and you had to go by the station and pick up your certificate. Papa Skip (Jerry's dad) really got into calling in the grandkids birthdays for a while. On October 24, 2002, he called in Adam's birthday. Adam, being "16" thought he was too old for this, but he suffered through the embarrassment so he could enjoy his free ice cream."
