Every year at Thanksgiving, I prepare a "Blessings Book" for my family table. It's one of my favorite annual creative projects.

I set out gratitude cards for everyone to write the thing that they are most thankful for that particular year. I make a point to take an individual photograph of each person who is present. Then after the day is over, I put everything together in a little paper bag album, date it, and put it with my Thanksgiving dishes.

Every year, the books from previous years are displayed around the table (and other places throughout the house) for my guests to look at and remember other Thanksgivings that we shared as a family. Yes - some of my books end up a little grease stained, but it adds to their charm and creates additional memories of delicious turkey and pumpkin pie.

The first year I did this, it was a little difficult to get my family on board, but the next year, when I put that little book out, they "got it" and I've not had any trouble getting them to be serious about it since.

I have lots of treasures in these little books. There are words from my dad, who is no longer here. Photos of my Father-In-Law, who is also gone on to God. Notes from family members that are not able to join us this year. Silly reminders of things that we often have forgotten, like moving into our new house and being thankful for running water (our water didn't work for the entire first week we were in this house, which was a trial in early July with 100 degree plus temperatures!) Photos of what we looked like that year. Memories of Thanksgivings past that are carried forward to Thanksgiving today.

I usually use THREE paper bags to create mine and then use the pockets for the thankful tags. And I always make one or two extras so that I have them for gifts to give as Wedding Presents to my younger family members who need to start their own traditions of gratitude and family memories.

This year, I've decided to make this project the monthly challenge for the November Anything Goes Challenge, so this is one of those blank extras as an example of how one of mine looks.

They're different every year, of course, but the basic format is the same.
