Dutch tradition of Sinterklaas; a sort of Santa. A few weeks before the feast he arrives from Spain, so kids can leave a carrot for his horse in their shoe, sing a Sinterklaas song and in the morning there might be some sweets or a toy in their shoe. Our girl's first go was a smashing success :)
