I've talked quite a bit about my farm handyman, but I don't think I've ever posted a photo of him. Yesterday he and I took the girls out trail riding. John and I both LOVE trail riding, but it's hard to find a riding buddy who likes to ride the same way you do. Both of us looked a long time before we found each other -- we just like to walk down the trail, explore the scenery, discover new bridle paths, and basically just enjoy life from the back of a good horse.
He adores Java, and she loves him just as much. He met her when she was 4 weeks old and he came out to trim her feet for the first time. That was the beginning of his and my friendship as well. Since then, we've become quite fond of each other. He put the first 90 days on Java when she was three, prepping her for my 55th birthday gift to myself which was to ride her for the first time. He was the only person I trusted to do it right, and she is a well broke, well behaved, trustworthy riding mount now.
My husband doesn't ride but he knows that when I go riding with John, I'm going to be safe and come home in one piece. We both trust John and his incredible horse sense to take care of any emergency and to know just what to do if something goes wrong.
I trust him with my horses, with my house when we go on vacation, my animals adore him, and he treats my property with the same care that he would his own. I don't really know WHAT I would do our HOW we would manage without him.

So last night Cheryl, Blanca, and I had a HouseParty crop, that was tremendous fun. Cheryl was working with some Prima Moulin Rouge paper, and that kind of inspired me to pull mine out and use it to scrap up my trail riding pictures from yesterday.
The combination of company and liquid courage from a lovely bottle of California Chardonnay inspired me to get out my Silhouette and figure out exactly how it worked. And that butterfly wreath is the result ... I think it took me about half an hour to get it cut, start to finish, mostly because it turns out that I'd done a software upgrade that was causing my machine to not see my cutting mat properly. So I did a little google research (what did we DO before GOOGLE?) and found out how to fix the problem. After that, things went better. I ruined the first cut, but that's really ok, because I like the color of this one much better.
But the real thing is ... I DID it! I used my Silhouette and it WORKED!
