we reached Mammoth Hot Springs are of Yellowstone. Heat causes groundwater to rise to the surface and it dissolves calcium in the limestone rocks in this area. Once on the surface the water deposits the calcium to create new rock at the rate of one-ton of limestone in 24 hours! Amazing!
