Orlando x 2 is the title because there were 2 trips in 2 years. I made the journal card by changing a cut file to a print file in the Silhouette program. The Mickey Mouse border was also cut with the Cameo 3 and the banners were made in the Silhouette program.
"Stories on Back" is so the reader will look at the lengthy journaling on the back of the layout: During the summer of 1979, Audie, Lara, and I went to Disney World and SeaWorld for our vacation. Lara was 9 years old and thoroughly enjoyed all the attractions of the Magic Kingdom and seeing the Disney characters. She was able to enjoy many rides and we took lots of photos; however, when I got ready to do this page about the trip, I couldn't locate them. We took a lot of 35 mm slides during this time and I think this trip is on slides. I did find one photo of SeaWorld and that is Lara standing right at the fence around the pool where Shamu the whale performed. One of her souvenirs from the trip was a stuffed Shamu.
Because Lara told Granny Taylor so much about the fun she had, Granny Taylor wanted to go to Disney World, too. She convinced me to take her, Grandpa Taylor, Nedra, and Lara back the next summer (1980) and invited Jana to go along for Lara to have someone her age to do rides, etc. I did the driving with Grandpa Taylor and Nedra in the front with me while Granny, Lara and Jana were in the back seat. Once we arrived at Disney World, it was all I could do to keep our little group together. While Lara and Jana wanted to run ahead at full speed, I was caught in the middle trying to keep Granny, Grandpa, and Nedra close enough for me to watch them and still not lose Lara and Jana in the crowds of people. Lara and Jana got to ride lots of rides and even Granny rode some, but it was hard to convince Grandpa or Nedra to try any of them. We did all get to ride the “It's A Small World” ride and sit through a few shows. Lara and Jana made many memories during this trip that fueled their lifelong friendship.
The Flying Dumbo picture of Lara and Jana and the one of Lara on the carousel were taken during the second trip to Orlando.
