I learned so much from your storytelling. I really like when a travel layout has this. You chose the perfect background paper for this. Super job. PS Keep the layouts coming of this trip. I have really enjoyed them.
This is my favorite temple too - I was in awe looking at it! I learned so much from your journaling. I didn't realize the originals were in the museum. I don't know how I didn't know that - most of the statues in these ruins around Greece are replicas, with the originals in a musesum, often on near or on the same site. Didn't know the 6th was stolen. I sure hope Greece gets it back. It would mean a lot more to the people of Greece.

My favorite temple at the Acropolis is the Erechtheion, also known as the Temple of Athena Polias. The temple has two porches-which is unusual for Greek architecture. The northwest corner of the temple is supported by six Ionic columns while the southwest corner is supported by six female statues known as the Caryatids. The Caryatids have become the temples signature feature, as they seem to casually support the weight of the porchs roof on their heads. The Caryatids currently at the Erechtheion are replicas. Five of the original statues are housed in the Acropolis Museum to protect them from the elements. The sixth Caryatid was stolen in 1802 by Thomas Bruce, Great Britains ambassador. She is currently in a British museum. The Acropolis Museum has left a space for the sixth Caryatid in hopes that one day the sisters will be reunited.
