Journaling reads: In the early 1990s my mother, Ruth Perdue, and Jerrys mother, Dorothy Kimbrel, got together and started a ladies quilting group at Teamon Baptist Church. The group met each week and worked on quilts for homeless people. They would donate the quilts to the local Salvation Army and from there the quilts were handed out to those in need. Over the years, their group grew in numbers as new ladies joined, sometimes bringing their younger daughters with them. When Mama and Dorothy eventually left Teamon and began going to church with us at Union Baptist, they started up another group which included some of their old friends from Teamon and some new friends from Union. For over a decade they were dedicated to making these quilts. The members of the groups furnished all of the materials, time, and labor needed to provide many needy people with these labors of love.
Journaled by Betty P. Kimbrel August 2022

The quilts were made with straps attached that tied around them so that they were easier for the homeless people to roll up and carry with them.

I will be posting 4 pages about this group - I made one for each of our children to have since both of their grandmas were involved. The pps are from Crate Paper Acorn Avenue. Thanks so much for stopping by :)
