I started with Honey Bee Stamps Birdcage die bought at Scrapbook. com. I found the coordinating bird and vine dies on the Honey Bee website. I cut the cage from matte gold cardstock. The base card is 5 x 7 white cardstock. The background paper is from a digital kit I bought on Etsy called Watercolor Jungle. The parrot pieces were cut from white and black cardstock. Coloring was done with Distress Oxide inks applied with blending brushes. The Leafy Vine was colored using a smooshing technique I saw demonstrated on YouTube. It was on the NB Cards channel. View her handmade smoosher applicators, especially on the video short called New Updated Smoosher. It uses a domed foam applicator. I really like this technique because I can control where I want the color to go. I used Oxide Inks again. I attached it to the right side of the cage, leaving the bottom edge unglued. I cut the vine to let me slide the parrot in place onto the vine. I used foam tape to attach the parrot. I then secured the bottom of the vine in place and added his feet. The small flowers were from my stash. On the inside I used some of the leftover jungle print for the rectangle. There was enough of it left for me to cut a tropical leaf with a die from my collection. The small flowers were punched from the same leftover scrap and die cut from white scraps using an old flower die called Petite Layered Posies. I didn't add a sentiment to the front, but there's room for one under the cage or even across the cage. This card could be used for many occasions. The members of my card class asked for a masculine design for birthdays or Father's Day. I think this could be used for that, or even for a feminine card.
