This is an awesome lo. Being an X Marine wife I know how hard this is! My brother in law was KIA this past October 2006. My brother (also a Marine) served in Iraq when the war first started. Knowing first hand what it is like being at one of the wake & funeral for someone KIA, I must say you did a great job with this and agree you should try and get it published. (((HUGS))) My sister after loosing her husband just joined the army and leaves for bootcamp this July!
I really don't know how to stress to you what a wonderful job you did on these pages and how touching it is. I honestly think you should submit this for publication. The journaling, the photos, the matting, the colors, it's all perfect. Great job!
I made these layouts after our last trip to Arlington National Cemetery. I chose to not to do anything fancy instead letting the strength of pictures speak. The Journaling reads: These photos were taken on our last trip to Arlington National Cemetery when we went to say “hello” to a few friends. This was a tough trip for my husband since this was the first time he was able to say goodbye to his fellow soldiers. While we were there, there was a funeral going on and while I’m not sure it was entirely proper I snapped a few pictures of the procession, that’s when I was struck by an amazing thought WHAT IF these brave men and women had never answered America’s call where would we be then? I snapped a few pictures of the plain white head stones that fills Arlington and I understood for the first time that I was standing among greatness. I have always known that Freedom is not FREE being married to a soldier but I realized on this day that we owe our men and women in uniform a great deal more than they receive.
