On the way home from vacation it was mostly driving. We didn't stop except to eat and sleep, so I used my scraps as backgroud for the journaling.

The journaling reads: "Coming home was a nightmare!!!!!! When we left Panama City, we decided to drive on the costal highway. Scenic and beautiful, but lots of traffic and it took an extra 2 hours to get out of Florida. Also, 'DH' wanted to stop and let the boys run on the beach, but they wanted nothing to do with that.

The drive through Mississippi was boring and ugly (mostly because the land was still damaged from Hurricane Rita and Katrina). We had to stop at three places just to find somewhere to eat because of pluming issues.

The drive through Houston was awful. It was rush hour, and all of the freeway was torn up. We drove past Houston and stayed just east of Houston at a small town. There was a BBQ place we ate at that was pretty good. But we were so tired from driving all day!

The next day we took off very early and stopped in San Antonio for breakfast. It was raining the whole time we left Houston. I was very surprised how green Texas was. In fact we didn't see desert until we got on the other side of the mountain just past San Antonio. That's when the rain stopped. Then it was nothing but ugly desert. We made good time driving through Texas because the speed limit is 85 mph.

New Mexico though has beautiful desert. I wanted to stop for the day in New Mexico, but 'DH' wanted to go on. We argued about it, but since the boys fell asleep, we continued. Once we were in Tucson, the monsoon hit. Not much rain, but plenty of lighting and thunder. We finally got home around midnight. 5133 miles later our vacation was over!!!!!!"
