DH and I will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary this November, so I decided to make an album all about us - from how we met up to the present. This is all about how we met ________journaling reads_____Paul and I met in November 1995 at a party at Dan Slayton & Chris Regruit’s house. I had started at Price Waterhouse with Dan and Paul knew Chris through the Xerox gang. In Dan & Chris’ front room, there was a side window that overlooked their front porch and front door. When Paul arrived at the party with his friend Rob, my friend Kelly and I had been playing darts in that room. Well, I didn’t realize at the time there was a window there and I turned around to see someone there and I screamed – that person was Paul. During the rest of the time Paul was there, he happened to be standing in a doorway, which I had to pass through several times for some reason (I guess it was fate). Every time I went through, we would chat for a minute. He ended up leaving early to go to his friend Jason’s house to watch the now infamous Mike Tyson/Evander Holyfield fight.A couple of weeks later, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Dan called me up to say a bunch of them were going to meet out at Paradise Alley. I decided to head out there. Paul was one of the first people I saw when I got there – I had remembered him from the party. We got chatting and when I turned around a little while later, everyone I knew was gone – I began to realize this was a set up, but I didn’t mind. Paul and I spent the rest of the night talking and getting to know each other. His friend Lori even cornered me in the bathroom to tell me what a nice guy he was – but I was already figuring that out. Afterwards, Paul, Dan, Chris and I went to Country Sweet for a late night snack and then back to Dan & Chris’ place. When I was going to leave, Paul walked me to my car and asked if he could call me sometime. We had our first date on December 2nd. He originally had asked me to go out the day before, but that’s my dad’s birthday. At first, when I told him that, he thought it was just an excuse to blow him off. We still joke about that on my dad’s birthday. Unfortunately, we cannot remember the name of the little Italian restaurant on Monroe Ave. that we went to for dinner – it burned down a few years later in a fire. I do remember that we both ordered Chicken Parmesan sandwiches and Paul says I barely spoke. Afterwards, we went back to a party at his house. From that first date on, we pretty much spent every free moment together. My mom knew it was serious – she used to always ask when I was dating someone if I liked them more, less or the same. Whenever she asked me with Paul, it was always more.
