The first place we ever camped was at Morro Bay, up North from us. And then Sequoia National Park. It was a week long trip with kids and a parent who had never camped before. But we all enjoyed it so much we did it again the next year (in two separate trips). At some point Arren said he didnít like camping for a week at a time (he was getting into the Xbox around then) and then said he was tired of camping, period. Truth be told, I was getting less flexible, my back had started hurting sleeping on a thin pad on the ground, and the kids, much as they loved each other, were at the stage where they were almost constantly fighting each other, and me. We took a break from it for a couple of years. Then Nerys joined a Boy Scout Venture Crew Troop, and now sheís been able to go on camping trips with them! It lets the pressure off of me. But I do miss going camping with them. They arenít little any more-at least like they used to be. Sheís sixteen, heís eleven. Iím forty-seven. I think we need to go on one really good trip.
