This is a dt assignment for my lss. Karen Foster Ancestry paper and stickers. The title and journaling font is Script MT Bold. The colors on this didn't photograph well, the pp is more brown. TFL! The journaling reads: Victor Teir came to the United States in search of religious freedom from his strict Lutheran upbringing and because of the promises of 'gold paved streets'. He left his wife and first-born son behind in Finland to board a ship in 1909. He made his way to Astoria, Oregon, and later to Rainier, where his family joined him in 1912. One of his first jobs was making "log booms" for 50 cents each, he could make two a day and sometimes three ("log booms" are long thin logs with no bark and large holes in each end, chains were run through the holes and the booms when connected together were placed around rafts of logs being transported to the saw mills by water). Later he was a Columbia River commercial fisherman. From spring through fall he fished with gill nets for trout and salmon. During the winter he would build a fishing boat. He had a good reputation as a boat builder and always had a list of people waiting for one. He and Ida had four more children in Rainier and lived there for the remainder of their lives.
