This is sooo lovely and touching! It caught my eye because my grandmother used to sing this to my sister and I when we were little and then to my boys. :)
Oh... I remember that song !!... wow..that counselor did a terrific job with your daughter... and what she said was so true...This LO.. will always have such a special meaning to you both.... and it's so very beautiful, too :)
To my favs. This layout is beautiful and your description brought tears to my eyes. I may have to use the butterfly metaphor. I can now think of about 100 times I wish I could have said something like that to comfort my patients' families...just beautiful.
Your tribute is a treasure, not only for your dd, but for all those who see it. The butterfly is such a lovely metaphor. TFS this beautiful story and page.
What a beautiful page, and a wonderful way to preserve that memory. Many times the bad memories rise to the surface, leaving the happy memories buried. This page is such a wonderful way to bring them back.
Oh my....a truly lovely layout. Your story of your MIL's passing brought me to tears....what a lovely way for the counselor to give comfort to your dd. My mom, who passed away in Feb. also loved to sing and Bushel and a Peck was a song she also sang. In fact, as the dementia worsened she seemed to think she was a young girl again and she sang this song to my dad all the time. Your layout brought back so many memories and emotions. You did an awesome job and it's a lovely photo and tribute to your MIL and DD.
This LO is for the Song Title Challenge at http://www.scrapbook.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/1465353/tp/1/ This pic of my daughter with her Nonna was taken on Xmas Day 2003 and is one of my fav pics of them together. Ever since my DD was a tiny baby, her Nonna used to sing this song to her. It's an old 1950's song from the musical Guys and Dolls and the most popular recording was by Doris Day. My MIL was always whistling and singing around the house and we miss her every day. This song is very special. The butterflies also have special significance for my DD. On the day that Nonna passed away (my DD was 12) we went to the hospital to say goodbye to her, the councellor gave my DD a butterfly from one of the floral arragements in Nonna's room, and told Kimberley not to be sad. She told her that Nonna had been in a dark cocoon for a long time with her cancer and now she had broken out of that cocoon and was free of her pain.
