This LO is a reminder of Rusty's very first agility trial. Even though the trial was less than 2 hours away, we stayed overnight in a motel the night before. I was nervous since I had no idea what the next day would be like. When I saw Rusty sleeping on the bed like this I couldn't help but think....that she had NO IDEA of the fun that lay ahead. I contrasted her being on the bed that night with her being on the start line the next day. The LO includes a copy of our entry form, with a metal arrow brad pointing to her name.
Journaling: Finally, we were ready! Rusty's entry to her first agility trial was confirmed. It was USDAA in Santa Rosa. Unable to imagine such a drive prior to the 8 AM start time, I drove up Saturday night and we stayed over. We entered two classes: Jumpers and Standard. First, we stepped to the line in Jumpers. I do not recall being a bit nervous. We were well prepared. With confidence, I removed Rusty's lead, left her on the start line and lead out two jumps. I turned and looked back; we smiled at each other. I took a deep breath and gave her a big OK. Our agility career had begun. We danced the dance for 24.29 seconds, 7.71 seconds under course time. Our clean run earned us a Q and a 4th place finish -- not bad for our first time out.
