The January “Retro Tapestry” kit from Swirlydoos is filled with bright, bold colors and embellies, but it wouldn’t be a true Swirly kit if there weren’t a few goodies that screamed “vintage”!!! This particular piece of paper is amazing up close; all of the flowers are covered with a sugary glitter, so pretty…

Because the paper is full of images and swirls, I decided to keep the “extras” to a minimum: a doily from one of the craft chains that I’ve been hoarding for over two years, a few buttons from my button stash that I had been saving for a special occasion and a couple of snippets from a Prima vine tied together with a bow. I did add one strip of punched pp in the background to give a little “oompf”.

While I have strong memories of cutting out paper dolls when I was young, I had forgotten that I had also done a bit of scrapping until my sister gave me this photo. I’m the one with the forever messy hair holding a pair of not-safety scissors while my younger sister looks on. My father made the table and two matching chairs for us (he loved woodworking.). The other thing that I had forgotten was the sweater that I was wearing. Knitted by my mother, it was pretty close to the shade of the Prima buds and the ribbon bow.
