This photo is a tree on our neighbour's lawn covered in about an inch of ice, all over the branches, in December 2013. The temperatures hovered around -20 C (-4 F) for days, and plummeted even lower, so the ice did not melt and became very heavy for weeks. Widespread power outages occurred (although we were not affected), and many people were without power for two weeks or more. It looks beautiful, but it was very destructive. Trees and power lines were destroyed, not to mentioned the objects in their pathways as they fell. I wanted to keep the photo as the focal point of this layout and ended up not using any printed papers, but rather glitter and shimmer papers, with an "icy" appearance.
The flowers and shimmer papers are by Recollections, the chipboard branch is by Harmonie, and the "snow" on the branch is white "Liquid Applique," heated with a heat embossing gun. There are also some long glitter pieces and some Stickles on the branch. The clear beaded "ice" branch in the flower arrangement is from the dollar store. I hand-cut the icicles.
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO LOOK AT AND LEAVE A COMMENT FOR ME TO READ AND ENJOY. I APPRECIATE YOUR KIND WORDS.
