Journaling reads: What I remember…
Back in the fall of 1979, we decided to go up to north Georgia on a camping trip. Jerry remembers going by the Mr. First machine (ATM) after work and not being able to get any money out because his paycheck hadn’t cleared yet. I’m guessing he probably stopped by his parents’ house on the way home and borrowed some cash from them (the bank of Mama and Daddy  ). We were going camping with our best friends, Cherri and Danny Weldon. We had been married almost two years and they had been married about nine months. We had a large two room tent, which slept 8 people, which we offered to share with them, but they insisted on taking their own tent that was even bigger! Newlyweds, LOL… Anyway, after work on Friday, we piled all our stuff in the cars and off we went – two big tents=two cars. They had picked out the campground located somewhere near Lake Burton. Before we got there, it started to rain and storm pretty hard. By the time we got up there it was around 11:00 PM, very dark, and raining. Let me say here that this campground had no lighting and looked like a place where you might be murdered in your sleep. It was CREEPY! So, we went about setting up our two huge tents, in the dark, in the rain… and settled in to sleep. Sometime in the middle of the night we heard a commotion. Apparently, the campers next to us had a calamity – their tent fell in from all the rain. What we heard was not a murderer, or a bear, or a monster… just a family with several small children scrambling around trying to get their tent back up. Well, we survived the night and the next day we drove over to Vogel State Park to do a little hiking and sightseeing. We also stopped by Anna Ruby Falls near Helen for a quick visit. When you’re young, you think you’ll remember all the little details about events… not true. I see evidence of drinks on the picnic table, but no stove… hmm… did we cook? Eat out? Fast? Who knows!
Journaled February 18, 2020
These pages are just done on a simple grid design. The pp and embellies are from Simple Stories Happy Trails collection. I also added a dragonfly brad and some googly eyes to the girl. The journaling is on the back side of the flip-flap and covers the first row of pics when closed. Thanks so much for stopping by :)
