That is ingenius. I saw on youtube a lady who did bottom half of her tag with the ink and the top half (with the hole) with ink that she dipped into clear embossing powder and heated. SHe said she then knew what the ink looked like embossed. I liked her idea but thought that is a big waste (to my budget anyway) of clear embossing powder. I live in Charleston, SC and our 2 "big box stores" never have clear embossing powders. I like your idea better because of the stamped image. I just got a Cricut machine (I think it hates me) last month, maybe I have a tag on it that I can use. At the moment, I keep a 411 book that I grab whenever I am going out to snoop for new things. I have samples of what inks, stains, sprays, embossing powders, gel pens, markers, etc that I own on 3/4" x 1" labels stuck to the pages in sections, like Distress Ink Pads, reinkers and so forth. But this is a much better idea to have on hand at the craft table to pick the correct colors for the projects! I am going to have to start this project today!
Love this - I have done something similar, but not nearly as artful as yours! I have to ask - what is your favorite color of distress ink? And are you ordering on line - or what - I never see all the colors anywhere! I ordered a few from Amazon once - and sent them back - they were dried out. I'd like to get the Aged Mahogany.
This is fantastic! I am totally going to have to make one of these now. I definitely like how you covered half the tag with ink and then also stamped an image with it. Excellent job- so inspirational! Cheers, Amber
Grace....I love this! I may do this with all my inks...then when I go to the store I won't be asking what colors do I have? Also for choosing the right shade I won't have to stamp each color to figure it out! Thanks!
Inspired idea! Thanks so much for sharing it! I'm going to do this with all my ink pads. It's often so difficult to tell the true color of the ink or chalk. Problem solved, thanks to you!
This is my new distress ink tag pad, this time with all 36 colours! :-)
I was going to add new to my old one, but I noticed that some of the colours had become wet, so I decided to make a new one instead.
Lessons learned from my old one:
I used eyelets and a ballchain, thinking it would last longer. It was very clumpsy to use. Not easy to make a tight pad of it. So this time I used some ribbon.
It´s always nice to see the stamped image on a white background, so I only used an ink blending tool on half of the tag. I remember I´ve seen something like that before.
