Photo of my DD, Kimberly, feeding her chickens. Today, my sister, Betty (kzookeeper), Sarah (Sarah_Liz), and Andrea (Risse) decided to have a cyber challenge. Last night we selected a Pagemaps sketch from April 2009 to use, and today each of us did a layout using the same sketch. Don't forget to check out the other layouts in our little challenge.
For my layout, I used G45 Domestic Goddess papers. The branch, leaves, and bird were all cut from white cardstock and colored with Copics. The rooster and hen were stamped on white cardstock, then colored with Copics. I sponged the ground and sky with SU Baja Breeze and Sahara Sand inks before I took it out of the Spellbinder die. I added a few doodled specks on the ground under the rooster with a brown and a white pen. Title letters were cut using the Zoe QK font. The large scallops were made using a 2" circle for a template. I doodled a few faux stitches at each corner. The bird and leaves were pop dotted with foam tape as was the rooster oval. Journaling was done in Word and printed out, backed with black cardstock and then added to the tag with the ribbon. The tiny black border was added digitally to keep the edges from fading away...the background is just white cardstock. Journaling reads:
Who knew that a girl who was raised in the city would one day fall in love with living in the country? I remember how excited you were when you called to tell me that Randy was building you a chicken coop and that your first batch of baby chicks was on their way to you. Having grown up on a chicken farm, I couldnt imagine being excited about getting chickens! Your love of living in the country and having chickens reminds me of how much you are like your Grandpa Perdue. He would have loved seeing your chickens.
