Saint Michaels Catholic Church in North Creek WI (pronounced Crick by the locals :-) This church was built in 1920 and is approx. 1/4 mile from my grandparents old farm. In the mornings when the sun was coming up, you could see the silhouette of this church as the sun came up behind it. North Creek is not actually a town , but more of an area outside of the town of Arcadia WI. My grandparents were not married in this church, however my mom, and all my aunts were. The church has been kept up wonderfully , there have been a couple projects to maintain & update all the original artwork and statuary inside the church so it looks as magnificent inside as it did in 1920 I imagine. Unfortunately, the church is no longer holding regular services. They only open it for weddings and funerals. I would love to get inside & take some shots as it is really beautiful. I told my mom to watch the paper & keep her ears open to see if any weddings will be taking place there. I think I'd make the drive to just crash the wedding to get some pics. Both my grandparents and my uncle Mike are buried in the cemetery there. ** even though the church was built in 1920, there are gravestones there dated well into the 1800's which I find fascinating. **UPDATE I went online to see if I could find any more history on this church. I did find some info. There are 311 readable gravestones and 13 that are too old and are unreadable. The oldest, readable gravestone is for Maryia Wyrwoll and that dates are 1794 to 1881!!!!
