The statue/ marker at the top right is a little strange. She is called the naked woman in bondage. I’m sure there is a story behind this naked woman with her hands bound behind her back – not sure I want to know what it is.
There are dozens of people more famous but few more interesting than the Otto Family. I noticed one large area surround by a low wrought iron fence which had a small statue of a resting deer at the foot of two of the graves. This was the Otto family plot - the parents of Gene Otto that owned Robert the Haunted Doll. Gene Otto is also buried here.
Gene and Anne Otto were quite well-regarded for their decorating skills and their home became a reflection of those talents. Their home, the home Gene had grown up in, became a center of island social activity with lavish parties thrown for the upper-class of Key West. Gene passed away in 1974, but their flamboyant tastes are reflected in the unusual and design of the Otto family cemetery plot which includes grave suites and headstones for three Yorkshire terriers named Derry, Little Boy and Sunny and the family's pet *Key deer, Elfina.
*Key deer are a very small breed of deer that live in the Florida Keys.
