Worked fantastic until it broke (11 July 2012)

I bought my heat tool only a few months ago, and have barely used it a handful of times. I had it in a box during a move, and now it won't turn on. In the same box, I had 3 small lamps with bulbs still inside, and the fragile little bulbs are all still fine and working. I can only imagine that this heat tool's insides are extremely delicate.

I really loved this tool, but I'm hesitant to replace it if my next one is going to break as quickly. Not sure if my case is a unique one, but just to be safe, be careful how you transport/store yours!

Excellent... as long as you don't use the included instructions! (08 April 2012)

I've only made one book with this machine, but so far I'm really enjoying it! It punches through 15 sheets of paper, acrylic, and wood like butter, and feels incredibly solid and durable. However, my main complaint - and the only thing keeping this from being a 5 star review - is the instruction booklet. It's just.... wrong.

I was making a book with a 7.5" spine. There's 2 places in the book that detail how many holes I'd need to punch; one place (a chart that just said how many holes to punch and with which technique) said 13 holes. The second place (detailed instructions for how to "perfectly line up" punches for different sized spines) said 14 holes. Ok, I said. I'll go with the detailed instructions. Thankfully I used a scrap piece of chipboard to test my punches, because after 4 failed attempts, my holes were shifted nearly 1/4 an inch off center in spite of the fact that I followed the directions perfectly. I ended up just eyeballing it in the center and going from there, and the book came out well (I rushed pressing the binding wires so one end came out a bit smushed).

Overall, definitely a handy and powerful little machine, though I would DEFINITELY recommend looking for instructions elsewhere. The booklet that's included just isn't trustworthy IMO.

Wonderful for water effects! (28 February 2012)

I'm not much of a scrapbooker, but I do a wide variety of crafting projects. I just used this on a custom My Little Pony to create little water drips on her, as if she just stepped out of the ocean. I also made little goggles for her with 2 buttons that, when flipped over, looked like shallow dishes. I covered the holes from the back with paper and filled them with the Glossy accents to create the effect of glass. They look great!

I can't wait to experiment with this stuff more and see what other cool techniques and effects I can discover with this stuff.

Not exactly what I expected, but still awesome! (28 February 2012)

I've only used this a couple of times since purchasing it, but it works fantastically! Nothing sticks to it, and even the materials that do wipe right off with a bit of water.

My only minor nitpick is that I was expecting it to be semi-adhesive or at least clingy on one side, so it stayed securely on my work surface. When I first used it, it still held the curl of the packaging and thus wasn't smooth and flat to work on. My table has an angle to it as well so I had to use my own temporary adhesives to keep it from sliding down my table. It's really not a major complaint though, and in all honesty I wish I could only take away 1/2 a star instead of a full one.
