I've scrapbooked for more years than I can believe, so I can tell you in all honesty these tools are a breakthrough for scrapbooking. I'm so happy about them, but my husband might be happier.
I'd had his precision file set in a container on my drawing table for years until this set came out. Occasionally, he would grumble about finding them there (and rightfully so), but I didn't want to spend more money on another set just for me. I figured we'd just have ďthe discussion" now and then when he discovered their disappearance from his workbench. Really, you and I both know they were better off on my table actually being used than in the garage. DH isnít a handyman but he wants to be prepared should the day ever come - with his tools all neatly hung up. Hence, the conflict.
My huge hope was that a scrapbook company would one day come up with a file set just for us girls (and some guys:).
BasicGrey to the rescue! My husbandsí files have now been returned to their permanent place on the workbench and I'm the very contented owner of beautiful, durable, stylish, useful, versatile, precision files I use in some way EVERY TIME I scrapbook. Thanks so much, BasicGrey. I LOVE these babies and my adorable husband too!!!
TIP: Both of the large files in the set have pink "handles" on one end. They are removable so the emery board-style files can be changed out as needed.

I have a short story to tell you ... I ordered this product, and at the time I thought I would love it, now I have a memory problem so when I got it, I wondered ... what in the sam hill was I thinking ... so I opened it up and put it in a holder and promptly forgot all about it.
Then one day, one of my frames I had made out of cardstock hadn't cut clean ... I didn't want to cut it with scissors, unfortunately, I am a perfectionist and I knew that it would look different than the other edges ... all of a sudden I remembered this file set. Fortunately for me, my craft room is all labeled (remember the memory thing) ... I pulled them out and looked at each piece and carefully used one of them on the rough edge. Now, I have to admit it looked much better but not quite right, so back to the precision files once again, and I pulled out another one that looked like it might do the job ... and with careful filing... I finished the edge to perfection.
Since then where I don't use it constantly, when I NEED IT THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THAT WOULD DO THE JOB AS WELL AS THIS DOES! I am sooooo glad I bought it ... it is wonderful!!!! Give it a try where you may not need it all the time, but when you do ... you will wonder how you ever got by without it!
When I first seen this item, I didn't think too much of it. then I was working on a project and couldn't cut close enough to the chipboard to clean it up. So I just had to get this. How did I ever do chipboard before. It has so many different items to get into any corner you need. AND I had never distressed anything before, but for the last week or so, I have been distressing like a mad woman. Awesome tools. this is definitely a tool that I will use for a very long long time. I just love the little files. I use to trace my chipboard letters and then cut them all out by hand, which I like to do, then I would glue them onto the chipboard and if any didn't fit right, I would use an exacto knife to try and cut them closer, messed up lots of times, now I don't use the knife, I use a file and get so much closer and it looks so much neater. Thanks to basic grey for coming up with such an awesome item. My sister in law is just starting to scrapbook and I told her about this item, so my brother took her to buy one of these can't live without items.

I love the distressing technique. When I first started I used a simple emery file board and used to work fine until I tried to get into more intricate places. I needed something else to get to those details. One day browsing through the galleries I saw this Precision File Set that was used on one of the layouts. I went to my LSS that same day and I bought it, still a bit doubtful to how was going to work. To make the story short, I will never use a plain emery board again. I love my BG files for all my distressing jobs. It's some tool you must have if you like to distress like me. It's not expensive at all and it will help you and make your job much, much easier. You got to try it!
I have not found any faults to this tool yet.

My friends call me a scrapbook tool addict and are always laughing at me when I pull out some new handy gadget I just had to purchase. When I pulled out these to distress the edges of a photo my friend asked why I didn't just use an emery board, and why would I pay money just for the pink handle. I didn't bother telling her how fabulous they were, how they get into every nook and cranny, how all the different shapes really are useful. But when she needed to smooth some chipboard edges, I told her to try them. Now she borrows them all the time and I have stopped myself from dancing around the crop singing "told you so told you so."
I was so excited to see this file set in the Superstore. I love chipboard and I use it a lot. I especially like to cover the chipboard with paper. No matter how close I got to the chipboard with my razor knife, I still had rough edges and little ragged pieces in the tight corners of the chipboard letters and shapes. This file set has been a life saver. It has several different shapes of files and two emery boards. Now I am able to get into the tightest corners and spaces and the chipboard shapes come out smooth. I would call this one of the tools I wouldn't want to live without.

I really do love this entire set. I use it to perfect the edges of chipboard that I'm just keeping as is. I use it to clean my edges on the pattern paper that I've covered my chipboard with and I use it to distress chipboard and straight pattern paper with. I thought an emery board would do just as good, but this is worlds better. Even the boards that look similar to emery works better but the smaller tools are perfect for getting in the small areas and really making your pieces look custom and perfected. A must tool for any perfectionist or distressing scrapbooker!

I was a little skeptical about these...they don't look very big and two of them look sort of like basic nail files that I already OWN. But I took the plunge...the cost was okay enough that if they didn't work, I wouldn't feel too cheated. These are AWESOME though! They are really heavy METAL. I did not realize they would be so heavy duty. I was really expecting sandpaper covered chipboard with pink paper handles. The handle area is rubber...I was just really surprised by the physicalness of them, lol! And they work pretty fantastically, too! ;)
With chipboard being such a craze that doesn't seem to be every going away, I am soooo glad I purchased this kit. It was so nice to have the BasicGrey Precisions files when I was working on my Grandma's mini album and was doing a lot of wallpapering. I was able to file off the overlap and give the book a nice clean look. It also works great for getting into the nooks and crannies when wallpapering the chipboard letters and flourishes. I also use mine to distress photos. I give this product my two thumbs up - big time!

What a great combo of files for every nook & cranny a scrapper could want to smooth! The different shapes of the files (triangular, curved, flat...) are great and really allow you to make a roughed up edge look nice, or rough up a smooth edge--depending on which look you prefer! These are so great for using on chipboard letters when you adhere paper to them!
I would like a sturdier case, but the tools themselves are quite sturdy and seem they'll last a long time. I also appreciate that this set is quite affordable!

Why didn't someone think of this sooner? The Basic Grey Precision File Set is a must-have for a scrapbooker of any style.
The set's six files are each sturdy enough for as much use as you can give them. Use them for hard-to-reach places on monograms, or for taking the little paper "nubs" off of die cuts. They're great for distressing, too.
This is a must-have tool, and at this price, it's affordable for everyone and anyone. Get yours today at the sb.com superstore!
If you work with chipboard this tool is a must. With all the cute chipboard flourishes available this tool work better than anything. This set comes with 6 files in a compact carrying case and stays in my tool tote. The large file works well to distress textured cardstock and the finer files have curved or flat files to meet every objective. Priced right and compact.....must have!

This set is ideal for making mini-albums with chipboard. I use them for removing the excess paper around the edges of the chipboard on both the pages and the decor chipboard that I cover with designer paper. I have tried others but these are by far the best. And it pays to shop around - I paid $10 for my first set at a scrapbook show and found them MUCH cheaper on this site.
This is actually my second set of BC files...I make a lot of board books and these files are awesome. I love that they have small tools to fit in all of the tiny spaces of my board books. My friends are always borrowing this set when we are at crops. I've tried using different types of sanding products but I always go back to these because they are efficient and strong.
I've never used chipboard until just last week. I found a little video on u-tube that showed how to cover chipboard with paper, and the woman suggested this product. I thought it was the coolest and decided to order it right away. Sure enough it's the best. The little tools are great for getting into small spaces on letters and numbers.
I love this file set by Basic Grey. I do alot of off the page projects, and I use alot of Kaiser Craft wooden products. These files get right into the little corners where I wouldn't be able to get to with sand paper or a sanding block... I work in a large scrapbooking shop and I recommend it to all the customers that ask me about it.
I use a lot of chipboard. I mean A LOT! I never really liked the way the letters turned out when I covered them with paper. With the BG file set, the problem is solved! It is a must have for chipboard letters and books! Great for distressing too! I love this item so much and I wish I would have bought it sooner.
I got this set for free after spending a certain amount and after receiving it am glad that I got it--it is a quality set of files.
I have always had a problem with the chipboard pieces having
things hanging off them--but now I have a way to fix it!
Oh, and I plan on doing more distressing in the days ahead!
If you make a lot of scrapbooks and mini-books or create any other craft that involves cutting paper and gluing, you need to have a set of the files to smooth out the rough, uneven edges. They are so handy and come in various sizes/shapes so you can use them for even the tiniest of corners/creases. A great product!
This file set brings distressing paper, chipboard, ghost shapes, photos... EVERYTHING to an entirely new level! THESE are an absolute MUST have for ANY scrapper! I was hesitant at first because of the cost, and now... Not a layout goes by that I don't have these babies working on! LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I highly recommend this product! I don't do many reviews but I don't usually use my purchase right away. I tend to cover alot of my chipboard with paper and don't like ragged edges so I'd have to say this is the best tool I've purchased in quite awhile. It is worth the money - you won't be disappointed!
I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could. Its always been hard to cover chipboard letters w/ pp and get a good look. With the small files, you can get in all the nooks and crannys and get a good looking letter! I also like the handles - easier on the hands than trying to hold onto a piece of sandpaper!
I LOVE this product! The quality is AMAZING and the picture just doesn't do it justice! The files included cover all the bases for your scrapbooking needs...you will wonder how in the world you ever got by on sandpaper and emery files! Buy one TODAY! You simply cannot get a better item for the price!

I love these. I use them almost every time I make a card. I keep the small round one handy and I now use the pink rubber handle to roll flower petals. It is the perfect solution as I was using a miniature pen and it was awkward. The rubber holds the paper a little better, so it has a dual use!! Yay!
Havent' used this yet, but it's BasicGrey, so whats not to love. I don't do a lot of minis, where this would be mos helpful to smooth edges, but iv'e seen it work great on those little hang pieces when you take a sticker or chipboard piece from its backing, so I know I'll be using this soon
I'm absolutely in love with this file set. It comes with all shapes and sizes of files. I thought I would use it only for chipboard, but I've found I use it on lots of other projects as well! I couldn't live without this set as I use chipboard on almost every LO!

After scouring the local hardware store for a file small enough for the inside of those chipboard letters, I was thrilled to have found these at SB.com. I keep them handy at all times. Thank you to Basic Grey for filling a need, these are perfect!
I do a lot of altering, wether it be cigar boxes, altiods tins, making fun albums, you name it.
I do not know how I lived without this! Working with regular sandpaper was nuts and I couldn't get into all the small spaces like I can now.
I am so glad I bought this. The files are perfect for every kind of project. They work to clean the edges of covered chipboard or to distress the edges of anything from chipboard to paper to acyrilic. Great to have on hand.
I thought using my little scraps of sand paper was good enough, but got one of these sets on a whim and I'm in LOVE! The files are different sizes and shapes and are just fabulous to use!!!!! You will love it!!!
I bought this set when it first came out and it is my go-to tool! I brag it up so much that my LSS has had to re-order it over and over! Not only is it functional, it's pretty too! ;)
Thank you, Basic Grey!

It's better than using my husbands and letting him look for it when I have it all the time. He can have his back so I won't get his filings on my craft projects. Thanks for the pink handles! norfil
After purchasing these I found a bunch of ways to use them. They are absolutely a tool that I will keep at hand on my desk and are definitely a must have. Another great product by Basic Grey!
I love having this set because all of those little tiny bits of paper that seem to hang around...And give things a rough edge. Really like this product!
I haven't had a chance to use these when scrapbook.com asked for a review. They look sturdy and the case they come in is fine. I will probably move it out of that case and into something better. I have wanted these for a long time and these different sizes are much needed with chipboard and Cricut cuts.
I saw this product on another website and was awed because I didn't even know it existed. After I watched the video I returned to SB.C because I like to use paypal when possible, it's safer. It'll be great for cleaning up around covered letters as well as distressing/ antiquing. kathy
When I ordered this it was the file homemade chipboard letters. I have also found other ways to use it like filing paper down to make the edges match my card edges or to add some distressing to cs and paper.

These files are great for getting in all those corners to sand and there are a variety of sizes. It's one of those tools where when you really need it nothing else would do the job better!

I had already bought a file set at a hardware store, but they were not as precise as these are and I like the pink handles. They have really come in handy with my card making.
