As soon as I heard about this ruler I knew I needed to buy it. The Tim Holtz design ruler has every feature you want in a ruler plus some! It is a clear ruler, which allows you to see your project under it, yet it has a metal edge, which allows you to use a knife to cut straight lines along it. On one side of the ruler it has ordinary measurements and the other side is a centering tool. Even more amazingly, there are holes along one edge of the ruler that allows you to punch holes in your paper for sewing! It is also affordable, making it a must have!

I've had three different rulers for years; one metal, a second for centering and a third with holes for punching (for stitching). This one simple ruler replaces them all; is clear and has grid lines for optimal placement of lines and holes. It is ideal for those who have totes and need to be mindful of space limitations. Granted, a ruler doesn't take up lots of space in a tote, but only having to remember where one ruler is makes life easier. A must have.

Finally something o make our lives easier and better. This ruler is simply awesome. Finding the center of the page has never been easier. I was a math major in college and I always thought I was pretty good, well this ruler makes my life so much better. No more measuring and dividing i in half to find out that what I thought was the center, isn't. With this basic tool, the center is always at your finger tips. I ordered a second one for my husband tool box. Simply love it!
I purchased this ruler after watching a video eith Tim Holtz demonstrating it. It is absolutely the best! I like the fact the it has a center point. This is helpful you need to mat photos. There are also holes for stitching spaced along one edge of the ruler. YOu can evenly pierce holes as far apart as you would like. I love the fact that the ruler is clear. It make it easier to see the project you are working on. I give this a thumbs up!!!
I've been watching Tim Holtz use this ruler from when it first came out, and I didn't think I needed it because I had so many rulers already from other companies!!!1 So I finally broke down and went to purchase it!!! Well!!! I love, love, love this ruler now!!!! Tim Holtz has done it again, what can I say!!!! It has zero centering for centering any embellishment you have on a 12x12 page or any size paper layout!!! And for those who want to stitch without using your sewing machine, it has holes where you can stitch very close together or very far apart or anywhere in between!!!!!! And if you want to use your craft knife to cut out lines or paper it has a metal on the ruler so when you cut with your craft knife it doesn't ruin your ruler!!!!!You have to have this tool!!!!!!
Well that might be an exageration but this ruler is the bomb diggity. It's sturdy enough that you can use it to tear paper, clear so you can see precisely what you are working on and where you are on your project. The numbers and lines are clear and easy to read. There are also punch holes which are GREAT! 12 inches of punch holes. It makes doing a straight line of almost any size easy peasy.
Best money I ever spent on a tool.
I too didn't think I needed another ruler. But I saw it at a T!m Holtz class and thought ok. Get it. Why? Because my x-acto started cutting my metal ruler AND the plastic one has a slight metal edge. No more cutting of the ruler, as opposed to paper etc
I haven't used the wholes since the book class but I liked them and it's so much easier than eyeballing it.
I plan to buy another one for another area of my studio.
I love this ruler! It has so many uses! It's very easy to read and the fact that it is see through is fantastic. The metal edge makes it very easy to use a craft knife and cut right up against the ruler. The evenly spaced holes are excellant for spacing brads, eyelets, or bling. You can also use the holes to mark faux or real stitching. It also makes centering things a breeze. I don't know how I ever managed without it!
I've been looking for a ruler that does more then just measure and I sure did find it in this one !! First off it's clear so you can see what's under the ruler and line everything up just perfectly... The next feature that I wanted was a way to punch evenly spaced holes on my cardstock and this one can do that too !! So, if you're looking for a ruler that can do more then just measure this one is the one for you !!
I was a little worried that I was going to end up with a flimsy, cheaply made ruler - but I was pleasantly surprised, because it's nice and sturdy / heavy in weight... will definitely hold up to my abuse (haha)! One side can be used as a "centering ruler" and I have used that way more than I thought I would- very helpful! I also love the "hole guide" and have used that part many times... no complaints here!

This ruler combines all my others into one! The grid helps me make sure I won't have uneven lines across my page. I love that I can also cut right up against the ruler because it has a metal edge on one side. I use the holes to make holes in my paper for hand sewing or to mark where I want other evenly space embellishments. The rest of my rulers have all been put away because I only need this one!

I've looked at the ruler for several months and tried to figure out what's different about it. I finally gave in a bought it and am really enjoying using it. I love the holes for punching your project. I've used it for a "hand-stitch" look, using a white or colored pen between the holes to look like thread. It's a very nice clear and consise rule with a good weight. Very nice and useful!
I love that this ruler has so many cool features and is practical!
The center line is awesome!
...and the grid is pretty handy dandy as well!
The evenly spaced piercing holes are great!
The metal edge is fabulous, I've wrecked a few other rulers because they didn't have this, (my craft knife).
For a nicely priced tool I'd say it's a must have!!!
Order yours today. I love my Design Ruler. It has a center ruler, a measurement ruler and equally spaced, tiny holes to help me punch my holes for that hand sewing spaced perfectly with very little hassle. I've been recommending this to my friends every since I purchased mine. I promise it will be the best ruler you ever bought.
I love this tool! My favorite thing is all the hash lines throughout the ruler. It makes it so easy to line up mats, photos and elements in my LO. I also love the holes I can use to make my brads line up perfectly. The centering ruler helps me so much with my titles. You won't be disappointed with this ruler.

I would highly recommend this Ruler to any Crafter. It is just so versatile, and does everything it is advertised to do. It's also a great time saver as it becomes so many tools in one.Saves hunting for all the other thing you would normally pull out for a particular project.
Definitely a great buy......
OK. You've done it again! This is an awsome ruler. I have elimintaed three rulers from my tote and replaced them with one. I especially love the fact it has all the little holes and grids to mark where I need to punch for eyelets or my stitching. It was a little pricey, but so... well worth it!
This is really a very useful ruler. I'm not good at hitting the center of the paper, with this its so easy if you need to
mark it. It takes the guess work out instead of messing
with a regular ruler.
Oh and it has holes so you can do your piercing with out any problems I love it.
This is the 3rd one of these I have bought because I love them! Great quality and value. I have 1 on my studio table, 1 in my art travel bag and 1 that disappeared at art group because apparently they thought it was as useful as I do. Definitely a tool necessity.
Where were you when I bought the other 2 rulers I have??? This ruler is amazing. It takes the place of having a gridded ruler and then having a ruler with the metal edge. Plus the little holes are great for making faux stictching. I absolutely love it!!!
I didn't think it made a difference; this is more than 'just another ruler'. Being able to see thru is so helpful! The cutting edge, which also helps like a tear bar, then having the holes is great to create different effects is so cool! I Love This!
This clear ruler is great, because it has the square inches in it, and can be used to look at exactly which sections of your picture you want to use. It obviously measures, too! A friend of mine lent me hers, and it has proven indispensable...
I bought this for the equally spaced holes for piercing holes for brads and stitching, but I love the metal edge for drawing an even line. The see through factor is a big plus, too! I relegated my old ruler back to the office supplies drawer.
Love this ruler, by Tim Holtz. Because it is a clear ruler, you can see just where your projects will be located. I also like the metal edge, its a straight everytime and holes for making stitching where every you like on your work
This is the third ruler like this that I have puchased...I use it every day. Sadly I made the mistake of using eucalyptus oil to clean some glue off one and it took the numbers off! The other is almost worn out with all the use.
My favorite part about tim's ruler is that you can used it to get a straight line in paper piercing. It has a lot of other uses too, like a metal edge to line up as a cutting edge with your exact knife and much more!
This really is the best ruler ever. It's thick so it stays put, and the grid is the best! The slanted side is perfect for getting lines just where you want them, and I like the piercing holes for perfect spacing.
I really am glad to have this tool. it is versatile and it's the best ruler I've own and am going to buy a second one as a spear. I especially like the metal edge, it's easy to use w/a craft knife.
I recently bought several products (distress ink, design ruler, and other Tim Holtz products) and love using them all!! I love that I can also go to the videos and get inspiration and ideas!!
A staple must have in your tools arsenal. Large, easy to read, yet precise. It sits out for me to easily grab at any given moment. The clear plastic decor of it allows me to leave it out.
I was so happy when it arrived, I live in Belgium so we don't have rules in inch. And the cutting side is awesome befor this ruler i alway had to buy new ones because i had cut into it LOL.
When I received this tool, I thought "where has this tool been for the last couple of years"!!!! I love it and it makes measuring projects so easy. It takes the guess work out of it!
You will love this ruler. 1 tool many uses. They were really thinking when they designed this tool. I had 1 clear ruler, 1 metal ruler, and 1 hole tool. I gave them all away.
Easy to use. Pleanty of guide lines. The piercing holes are perfect when you just need a straight line on pierced dots.
When I saw it I couldn't wait to have one of my own.
This ruler is perfect for all those times when you are trying for the perfect spot and you can't see through where to position your object. This is the tool to have.
I love this ruler! I love the holes in it so you can make stitching. I love everything about this ruler! I just wish it was tinted a color, since I always lose it!

Heard about the Design Ruler and knew that it would make my life easier in doing my crafts and it has! Would highly recommend the Design Ruler to all crafters.
I bought this ruler for only one reason....the perfectly spaced holes for hand stitching...but I'm loving the LARGE numbers...It's so easy to see and the centering measurement is a plus also with the large numbers.
The only downfall with this ruler I'm seeing is the grid is printed on the back of the ruler....although I've only used it a few times now the grid began wearing off. I slowed this process down a little by painting a coat of clear sealer over the back. At least now there is a protective layer over the grid and I feel it will last a little longer.
I thought the wholes would be big enought to get a pen or pencil into to make marks. The only thing getting into the wholes is a sewing needle. Other than that the rest of the ruler works great.
