After reading a couple mixed reviews, I decided to take the plunge anyway and see for myself. Upon receiving my punch, I cleaned it up a bit to make sure there was no manufacturing dust inside and punched through some waxed paper a few times to lubricate it...worked like a dream!! I punched through a few photos and also a project life cardstock paper. The most wonderful thing about this punch us that it matches the project life 3x4 cards exactly, including the rounded corners. This tool has earned it's keep and will surely make things a lot easier!
From the moment I saw that this punch was coming to your store I was sure I wanted it, and I eagerly kept checking back until it finally arrived. I ordered it immediately--and I have not been disappointed. I love it! It makes my Project Life scrapbooking really easy, and I have found multiple other paper projects to use it on as well (I make cards for my wallet with frequently used phone numbers, lists of medications, etc.) I use it in my home office, too.
Awesome tool for my card making and scrapbooking projects. Easy to use, accurate, and makes my job so much easier. Love the clear window design, so I can see "exactly" what I am punching.
Definitely a must have for ANY card maker and/or scrapbooker!
I bought an extra two for my sisters.
I especially love that I can crop/cut beautiful photos out and they are cornered and look professional for my projects.
This is probably more for pocket or project life scrappers but I still see a real use for it in my 12x12 formats. Saves getting my cutting tools out and have actually found that while my pictures are mostly all 4x6 I can crop them with this tool and still have the 'meat of my picture' in the frame. It'll save a lot of time down the road. My only con for it was that it was VERY stiff to use the 1st few times...but once it was broke-in it worked just fine!
While the punch does make great 3x4 cards with rounded corners, it also punches 4 holes around where the card was punched. For example, if you wanted to make a 12x12 page with a 3x4 punch somewhere (perhaps in the middle), you'd also end up with 4 holes around the 3x4 space. Don't know what the significance of these holes is, but it would be a much better product without them.
This is a great idea in theory. This punch allows you to quickly punch pictures to use in your Project Life albums. You can see the picture perfectly and where it will be cut, making getting it just right a snap. However, the punch is very hard to depress (I have to stand up and put a lot of force on it). Then, it rarely pops back up to release the negative part of the paper or photo. It takes a few minutes of fussing with it each time I use it.
This is a great idea but it needs re-engineered. I can't recommend it in it's current form. I've used it about 20 times and only 1-2 times has it released without intervention.
I bought this to quickly punch out 3x4 cards from the 12x12 pre-made journal card sheets, the 4x6 sheets and other lovely cardstock. I was SO disappointed to find that the punch makes FOUR extra holes around the actual punched shape!! I get the mechanics of it all and can't say I have a solution but I can't see using this very much because of this. Maybe the next one will have a new design and not wreck the rest of your paper. :(
This is a tough to punch punch and it wastes paper. You need a palm on each side and give it a strong punch. A 3x4 is more easily accomplished with your trimmer, saves paper and if you want rounded corners, use a corner punch, seriously. This was a waste of money and takes up space.
We R Memory Keepers is known for their quality products, but this is the exception. The Punch doesn't give a clean cut and leaves holes around the outer edge of the paper! The idea is great! Hopefully they will take the punch back to the drawing board and improve it!
I thought this would be a good tool for me when I wanted smaller pieces of paper without getting out the paper cutter and the corner rounder. It is designed so there are 2 hole punches about 1/2" outside the main cut on each long side causing whatever you are cutting out of to be damaged and wasting the other portions of the paper or photo. I thought I could also use this as not only as a positive cutter but also a negative one as well--ie cut out a window. Those punch pegs kill that idea and make this a less functional tool. I thought would be easy and multi-functional. I had not seen any videos of the tool being used so was unaware of this thoughtless design flaw. No one has ever mentioned it in the reviews that I have searched out. Isn't there a way to hold the paper in place without the pegs, not have slippage, center the paper or photo and still have a multi-functional tool?
Also, right out of the box it was making fuzzy cuts.
First off, I want to start on a positive note. The shipping was very fast and I was surprised how quickly I received my punch. Thank you.
However, that is the only positive note I can say as it went downhill from there. I had set my eyes on the WRMK's 3 x 4 punch since January 2013. I was ecstatic. I enjoy Project Life but enjoy making my own cards. It sounded like this would be my go to gadget when I was using project life. The dream was short lived once I began using the punch. I unboxed the punch and discovered it was filthy - with mud and grease. The clear top of the punch was also filthy with some kind of plastic scratches and marks. It was in terrible condition. I was disappointed. And I was surprised this punch would pass any quality control inspection. (Did I mention I am a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer for a major company?)
But I decided that I would try it.. Even though it was in obvious disrepair. I had a picture from our honeymoon in the Bahamas. It was a regular 4 x 6 print from Walgreen's. Nothing fancy. Not heavy weighted. It was a regular photo print. I have attached pictures of the back of the photo so you can see - nothing fancy. My first mistake was that this is the only copy I have of this picture. Why I used it.. I guess I will never know but fail. I read the directions - opened the magnetic top and stuck the picture in. Closed the magnetic top and heard the sound of latching. According to the directions, I had done everything right. I set it on a solid wood surface and pressed down. I pressed down harder and even though I would consider myself a fit 20 something woman, it took me all my strength and nothing happened. The punch had jammed. The punch jammed! It jammed on my first attempt with regular, nothing fancy photo prints! I was disappointed. I had waited for this punch and it jammed. The worst part came when I tried to remove the magnetic top and it wouldn't "unlatch". And when it did, it was so loud that my husband ran up the stairs thinking something terrible had happened. It was so loud and the quality was so poor. My single print was barely cut. The punch failed. It failed miserably. The photo was ruined. My husband and I were both shocked at how terrible this punch did. (I am buy lots of WRMK things from page protectors, albums, I have many super 8 punches, paper trimmers, cropadiles, corner rounders and even the new envelope board.)
This punch was not cheap - it was $29.99. And on top of that, I paid $10.07 for shipping. My total order was $40.06. I'm disappointed and I think this may just be my last purchase from WRMK.
I purchased this product because I liked the idea of having uniform sizes of my pictures for my albums and the idea of simplicfication. When I received it, I couldn't wait to use it, but it was first hard to open, and then when I punched the picture, I had to stand up over the punch to push down. I tried several diferent times with different paper and still had to stand. I don't see myself doing this with the hundreds of pictures I crop. I am returning this item.
Very, very disappointed with this expensive tool that has all these rave reviews. I've had mine for about 3 weeks. It hacks my photos leaving ragged edges WHEN it successfully cuts them. Many times it isn't capable of cutting through a photo at all. It jams on a regular basis.
I love the newest product from We r Memory Keepers. Cuts 3x4 cards simply and quickly. In my book definitely worth it's price. The only issue I have with the product are the small circles on either side but it is far from a deal breaker as it easily lets you line up if doing multiples. Works great with BH products. Buy it you won't regret it!
Once I figured out how to line things up BEFORE the magnet snaps into place, it has been one of my best investments. But, warning, the magnet it strong and will surprise you the first couple of uses.
Found the punch lock very stiff and hard to unlock. Once I got it open I chose to leave it open for fear I would break the lock and ruin the whole thing. The operation of cutting paper takes a little getting used to because the magnet is very strong. But once you get into the rhythm of it, it is just great at makig multitudes of 3X4 cards from your scrapbook paper. I'm having a punchin' good time making cards for my project life albums. We R Memory Keepers does it again. When do we get the 4X6 punch??
I have used this punch a couple of times since receiving it and I have to say it cuts like butter. I love the way I can see what I cut in the clear window and the size is perfect for when I do cards. Great buy!
I love We-R products and was excited to see this punch. I'm new to Project Life and thought this would be a great tool to have for that. It is heavy and I found it hard to punch. Sometimes it punches fine and other times it seems to " drag" and rip my pics/paper. I also didn't like the 4 holes it left in my paper. That seems wasteful to me. Sorry.
This punch will not punch through my photo paper. I have tried Epson photo paper and HP photo paper.
It does punch thru light weight scrapbook paper.
I am not sure if I will keep the 2 3x4 punches I purchased.
I have used this a lot to cut out photos and paper. It does a great job most of the time. Occasionally the cut isn't real clean, but that's usually because it was very close to the edge of the photo or piece of paper. I wish it didn't punch holes in papers, especially patterned paper, since that wastes paper. But over all, it is so useful and handy that I don't mind much.
Great tool for cropping 3x4 photos or paper for the Project Life system. Only hitch I found is that you have to hold the picture steady while closing the lid -- it is magnetized, which is great, but it can also move your pic out of alignment before punching.
I really like this punch. I love being able to punch anywhere on a page that I want. It is very versatile. Warning....it is heavy and much bigger than you think it is going to be. That does not seem to impact the functionality at all however.
I recently purchased this tool. I love it. At first I wasn't sure if it would work as good as I thought but I was definitely not disappointed. I wish that it was available in other sizes as well. I would definitely purchase other ones that would make a project life book so easy.
At the moment this is the only 3x4 punch out there. It's bulky and it's best to stand when pushing down to make the cut. It can be tricky to release the paper/photo from the die. It does the job. I later found this punch at a scrapbook store for only $24 with no shipping.
