...in every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks.
A picture is the expression of an impression. If the beautiful were not in us, how would we ever recognize it?
A woman's face with Nature's own hand painted.
All my life through, the new sights of Nature made me rejoice like a child.
"But indeed, it is not so much for its beauty
- that the forest makes a claim upon men's
hearts, as for that subtle something,
that quality of the air, that emanates from
the old trees, that so wonderfully changes
and renews a weary spirit."
Colors are the smiles of nature.
Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns.
Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play and pray in, where Nature may heal and cheer and give strength to body and soul alike.
Forgiveness is the fragrance of the violet that still clings fast to the heel that crushed it.
Hold the mirror up to nature.
How lavish is Nature building, pulling down, creating, destroying, chasing every material particle from form to form, ever changing, ever beautiful.
I am particularly fond of the little groves of oak trees. I love to look at them, because they endure the wintry storm and the summer's heat, and - not unlike ourselves - seem to flourish by them.
I don't like formal gardens. I like wild nature. It's just the wilderness instinct in me, I guess.
In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.
"In those vernal seasons of the year,
when the air is calm and pleasant, it
were an injury and sullenness against
Nature not to go out, and see her riches,
and partake in her rejoicing with
heaven and earth."
In wildness is the preservation of the earth; so seek the wolf in thyself.
Just living is not enough," said the butterfly. "One must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower.
Like water, be gentle and strong. Be gentle enough to follow the natural paths of the earth, and strong enough to rise up and reshape the world.
Look deep, deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.
Nature erring from itself.
Nature has always something rare to show us....and the danger to life and limb is hardly greater than one would experience crouching deprecatingly beneath a roof.
Nature is ever at work building and pulling down, creating and destroying, keeping everything whirling and flowing, allowing no rest but in rhythmical motion, chasing everything in endless song out of one beautiful form into another.
nature itself means nothing, says nothing except to the perceiving mind.... Beauty is where it is perceived...you surely will see..if you are prepared to see it - if you look for it...
Nature must compel us to lament.
Nature's wit.
"No hour of life is lost that is spent in the saddle" Winston Churchill
None of Nature's landscapes are ugly so long as they are wild.
One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.
One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.
That moment when you open your eyes, and see the world around you as though it were the first time.
The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness.
The earth is not...a mere fragment of dead history, strata upon strata, like the leaves of a book, an object for a museum and an antiquarian, but living poetry like the leaves of a tree, - not a fossil earth, but a living specimen.
The longer I live the more beautiful life becomes. If you foolishly ignore beauty, you will soon find yourself without it. Your life will be impoverished. But if you invest in beauty, it will remain with you all the days of your life.
The mountains are calling and I must go.
"The snow itself is lonely or, if you prefer,
self-sufficient. There is no other time when
the whole world seems composed
of one thing and one thing only."
"The sun with all those planets revolving around it and dependent on it, can still ripen a vine of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do."
(from a paper Wild Oats coffee cup--I want to use it on a Sonoma page)
The world is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful.
This curious world which we inhabit is more wonderful than it is convenient; more beautiful than it is useful; it is more to be admired and enjoyed than used.
Those who comtemplate the beauty of the Earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is symbolic as well as actual beauty in the migration of birds, the ebb and flow of tides, the folded bud ready for spring. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature - the assurance that dawn comes after thenight and spring after the winter.
Turn your face to the sun and the shadows will fall behind you.
When we are with Nature we are awake, and we discover many interesting things and reach many a mark we are not aiming at.
"Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting
and autumn a mosaic of them all."
Just living is not enough,' said the butterfly, 'one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower.
A snowflake is one of God's most fragile creations, but look what they can do when they stick together!
A snowflake is winter's butterfly.
A Snowflake is Winter's Butterfly.
A woodland in full color is awesome as a forest fire, in magnitude at least, but a single tree is like a dancing tongue of flame to warm the heart.
Adopt the pace of nature; her secret is patience.
After the rain, God gave a rainbow
All we behold is full of blessings.
And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.
And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.
And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet.
And where is voice
So young, so beautiful, and sweet
As nature's choice,
Where spring and lovers meet?
Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.
Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.
Be like the bird perched on a branch when she sings tho' she feels it bend yet still she sings her song knowing that she has wings
Behold my brother, the spring has come;
the earth has received the embraces of the
sun and we shall soon see the results of that love!
Every seed is awakened and so has all the animal life.
It is through this mysterious power that we too have
our being and we therefore yield to our neighbors,
even our animal neighbors, the same right as ourselves,
to inhabit this land.
But indeed, it is not so much for its beauty-that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of the air, that emanates from the old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.
Childhood instills in us a great love of the earth.
Clever spider spins a thread
To make a trap we call a web.
Clever spider knows that she
Will have some insects with her tea.
Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.
Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions.
Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher.
Come to me, come to me, O my God;
Come to me everywhere!
The trees mean Thee, and the grassy sod,
and the water and the air!
Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
Every blade of grass has an angel that bends over it and whispers, "Grow! Grow!"
Every season spills its own wonder upon the earth.
Everyone ought to believe in something,
I believe I will go fishing.
Everything in nature is reborn within the circle of life.

Fourteen ways to live green,
#6. Recycle
*use refillable bottles for your kitchen, cleaning, and beauty products. it's economical and it cuts down on waste.
* encourage your coworkers to use recycled copy paper. Keep a recycling bin near the copy machine or anywhere else bulk paper accumulates.
*reuse envelopes for mailiing bills and other impersonal documents.
* recycle all cans, bottles, and newspapers both at work and at home.
If recycling is not mandatory in your community, start small with a neighborhood initiative.
Fishing is much more than casting and retrieving
and playing your catch. It's the wind in your
face, and the sound of wakening birds as the sun
peeks over the horizon. It's discovering the
magic in each new place and unlocking the
mysteries that lurk there.
Flowers are Love's truest language
Forests are the lungs of the Earth
Forget not that the
earth delights to feel
your bare feet and
the winds long to
play with your hair.
--Kahlil Gibran
Go out, go out I beg of you
And taste the beauty of the wild.
Behold the miracle of the earth
With all the wonder of a child.
God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars.
Grant me the ability to be alone,
May it be my custom to go outdoors each day
amoung the trees and grasses,
among all growing thing
and there may I be alone,
and enter into prayer
to talk with the one
that I belong to
Happiness held is the seed....
Happiness shared is the flower.
How beautifully the leaves grow old. How full of light and color their last days.
I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God.
I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air.
I have a room all to myself; it is nature.
I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.
I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only listen.
I swear the earth shall surely be complete
to him or her who shall be complete,
The earth remains jagged and broken only
to him or her who remains jagged and broken.
I think that I shall never see a poem lovely as a tree.
I value my garden more for being full of blackbirds than of cherries, and very frankly give them fruit for their songs.
I want all my senses engaged. Let me absorb the world's variety and uniqueness.
I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness for it shows me the stars.
If nothing ever changed, we wouldn't have butterflies.
If one really loves nature, one can find beauty everywhere.
If people sat outside and looked at the stars each night... I bet they would live a lot differently.
In a boy's world...there's nothing that beats climbing a good tree.
In all things of nature there is something of the marvellous.
In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.
In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous.
In every grain of sand
there is a story of the earth
In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.
In the woods we return to reason and faith.
It is good to realize that if love and peace can prevail on earth, and if we can teach our children to honor nature's gifts, the joys and beauties of the outdoors will be here forever.
It is only in the exceptional minds that we realize how wonderful are the commonest experiences of life. It seems to me sometimes that these experiences have an 'inner' side, as well as the outer side we normally perceive. At such moments one suddenly sees everything with new eyes; one feels on the brink of some great revelation. It is as if we caught a glimpse of some incredibly beautiful world that lies silently about us all the time.
It's snowing still. And freezing. However, we haven't had an earthquake lately.
Just living is not enough, said the butterfly.
One must have freedom, sunshine and a little flower.
--Hans Christian Anderson
Keep close to nature's heart.
Leave the roads...take the trails.
Like water, be gentle and strong.
Be gentle enough to follow the natural
paths of the earth, and strong enough to
rise up and reshape the world.
Live in the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink the wild air.
Look deep into nature and you will understand everything better.
Look for a lovely thing
and you will find it.
It is not far -
It never will be far.
Love is like a mountain,
hard to climb,
but once you get to the top
the view is beautiful.
- Daniel Monroe Tuttle
Madame Butterfly
Make Peace on Earth; Make Peace Within.
At the Sun's Rebirth; And 'round the Wheel Again.
Many have forgotten this truth, but you must not forget it. You remain responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.
May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.
Mother Earth is one of the best teachers I ever had.
Nature gives to every season, a beauty all its own.
Nature gives to every season, a beauty all its own.
Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own.
Nature is painting for us...
day after day...
pictures of infinite beauty.
Nature is the art of God.
Nature speaks softly ... you have to listen to it carefully.
Nature wears the colors of the spirit.
Nature will bear the closest inspection.
She invites us to lay our eye level with her smallest leaf, and take an insect view of its plain.
Never loose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful; for beauty is God's handwriting ... thank God for it.
No form of Nature is inferior to Art; for the arts merely imitate natural forms.
No one can really pull you up very high--you lose your grip on the rope. But on your own two feet you can climb mountains.
No snowflake ever falls in the wrong place.
Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.
October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
Oh! the snow, the beautiful snow, Filling the sky and earth below, Over the housetops, over the street, Over the heads of the people you meet. Dancing, Flirting, Skimming along.
Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel; all claimed that they were the best, the most important, the most useful, the favorite.
GREEN said, "Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, trees, leaves... without me, all animals would die. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority."
BLUE interrupted. "You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my peace, you would all be nothing."
YELLOW chuckled, "You are all so serious. I bring la...
One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.
People are like rainbows
They are forever changing
Growing from small to big
Reaching for the heights
Up in the sky
People from a planet without flowers would think we must be mad with joy the whole time to have such things about us.
Powerful grace that lies
In herbs, plants, stones, and their qualities:
For naught so vile that on the
earth doth live
But to the earth some special
food doth give.
Silently, like thoughts that come and go, the snowflakes fall, each one a gem.
Softly the evening came.
Some go to church and think about fishing,
Others go fishing and think about God.
Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's Party!"
Sunsets are God's way of telling us that tomorrow will be beautiful.
Sweet April showers do spring May flowers.
Take time to enjoy the natural Beauty that surrounds you.
The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God.
The bluebird carries the sky on his back.
The butterfly counts not months, but moments, and has time enough.
The earth laughs in flowers.
The Eskimo has fifty-two names for snow because it is important to them; there ought to be as many for love
The family is one of nature's masterpieces.
The great fact in life, the always possible escape from dullness, was the lake. The sun rose out of it, the day began there, it was like an open door that nobody could shut. The land and all its dreariness could never close in on you. You had only to look at the lake, and you knew you would soon be free.
The more I study nature the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator.
The poetry of the earth is never dead.
The richness I achieve comes from Nature, the source of my inspiration.
The roses under my window make no reference to former roses or better ones; they are what they are; they exist with God today. There is no time to them. There is simply the rose; it is perfect in every moment of its existence.
The sky is the daily bread of the eyes.
The snow doesn't give a soft white damn whom it touches.
The sun, with all those plants revolving around it and dependent upon it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do.
The sunrise is Gods greeting - the sunset, his signature
THE TIDE
The tide recedes, but leaves behind
bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle warmth
still lingers on the land.
The music stops, yet echoes on
in sweet, soulful refrains.
For every joy that passes,
something beautiful remains.
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep Sea, and music in its roar:
O love not Man the less, but Nature more,
From these our interviews, in which I steal
For all I may be, or have been before,
To mingle with the Universe, and feel
What I can ne'er express,
yet can not all conceal.
There is more to life than increasing its speed.
These are brand-new birds of
twelve-months' growing,
Which a year ago, or less than twain,
No finches were, nor nightingales,
Nor thrushes,
But only particles of grain,
And Earth and Air, and Rain.
They seemed to come suddenly upon happiness as if they had surprised a butterfly in the winter woods...
This dirty puddle used to be pure snow. I walk by it with respect.
Time will come, people will no longer fight at each other. They are going to unite against the wrath of nature.
P.S
It's my birthday today, but I feel sad for what happened in Samar and Leyte, Philippines because of super typhoon Haiyan that killed thousands of people. It is a nightmare! I hope God will continue to bless all of them.- Alon Calinao Dy
Treat the earth well: remember that it was not given to us by our parents...but it was lent to us by our children.
Trees are the earth's endless effort to speak to the listening heaven.
True peace can be found swimming underwater
absorbing the quiet!
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
We have not inherited the Earth from our ancestors. We only borrowed it from our children.
What I do is called fishing. If it was easy, we would refer to it as catching, and there would be a lot more people doing it.
What the caterpillar calls the end of his life, the Master calls a butterfly.
What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.
When a child and an adult bend down together and examine a rose or an ant colony, or turn over a rock beside a stream, new worlds open up.
When you tug at a single thing in nature, you find it attached to the rest of the world.
Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.
Winter is nature's way of saying, "Up yours."
You'll never learn unless you get dirty.
