I have only used this a few times, but I was really impressed from the very first use. I free-handed some fancy lettering, and I was REALLY skeptical that it would turn out -- but it did! Perfectly, the first time. I was floored because it seemed a little sketchy as I was doing it -- since it drags the foil a little as it goes, I thought "surely this can't be working". I think it will be great to add flecks of gold to the middle of flowers, too. The only thing I wish is that there was a way to hold the extra nib somewhere on the pen itself, because, well, I lose things.
I was skeptical that this would work for any actual hand lettering, but it worked beautifully on some envelopes I was addressing. Very easy to use. Just tape the foil down with low tack tape. Then pop in 2 AAAs into the tune. Close the tube, press the button. It lights up red to indicate not to touch the tip. Wait a few minutes for the tip to heat up. Then you can write your message. It makes a really nice shiny effect.

How does this product work if it doesn�t get plug into anything? And does it still get hot?
