The Lap Desk is 11.75" x 16" and features a bamboo top with a groove around it to catch stray tools. There is a large storage compartment to store all the included tools. The Soft Grip Scissors feature 8" metal blades with a Comfort grip handle. The Silicone Ink pad tool will help keep your ink pads in place on the desk and mat. The three comfort grips slide onto pens, pencils, markers, and other crafting tools to make them Comfort Grip Tools. The 12" Easy Grip ruler features large numbers, an easy grip handle, and a non-slip grip foot. The Comfort Craft Knife features an ergonomic design that fits on a finger, creating less pressure when used. The lighted tweezers are equipped with an LED light and has rubber grips for comfort and ease. These tweezers are great for picking up small pieces and placing them where needed when making projects. All these tools coordinate with one another and are designed to make your crafting life so much easier, not just on your hands but on your eyesight as well.
My favorite is the tweezers. They hold so well! The aoft scissors are easy on achey hands, the magnifying glasses are very clear. Also love the suction holder for ink pads & will rider more when they are back in stock. The desk itself works very well too!
LOVING this lap desk, and all of its accessories! The lighted glasses, and tweezers already contain batteries. You only have to flip the switch. The other accessories are also of great help, except the scissors, which I found hard to use. I am disappointed that there are no overall handles to this thing, so I can't actually pick it up and go to the couch. Maybe they had to do that in order to make the sides of the top of the desk indented, but I don't see why they couldn't have added them. It seems they thought of everything else. Overall, I'm glad I purchased this!
This is an awful product. I am thinking of returning it, but because of its, weight, it may be too costly to do it. It is simply the top Tray of an IKEA type rolling cart made into a “lap desk”, which should already give you an idea of the lack of practicality and comfort it provides. It is sold as a great help for handicapped crafters and those who need to craft from the bed, sofa, etc. the only part I liked were the cups you can hang from the side. I didn’t find the “adaptive” tools too useful or comfortable to use, just large and clunky. In fact, We R sells another set of adaptive tools with a small magnetic cutting board that is much cheaper and works better. Don’t waste your money or time on this. Get the other tool set, or what whatever you can comfortably use, and find a lap desk that works. While the idea was good (you can store the items in the tray) I can’t imagine anyone wanting a steel tray balancing on their lap as they try to work! It’s heavy, cold and won’t stay put. Either get something with a beanbag type bottom or a breakfast tray with legs that you can put up over you. This is a huge fail for We R Memory Keepers and I’m surprised they put it out and that Scrapbook.com offered it. Both are usually very good companies with solid products. I got duped, don’t let the same thing happen to you!
I have a disability. I do a lot of crafting on my lap while I am in my chair. It is very hard to try to balance things & keep track of supplies. This lap desk is so helpful. I can stash my tools under the top & the ones I’m using in the little side cups. My hands are arthritic. The cushions for pens is so comfortable. Having everything in one place is so handy. Give this a try.
I was so excited about this product but will not be able to use it as a portable craft desk as the cover.was broken! So can't recommend on the overall quality but did like the tools that came with it.

What is the bottom of the lap desk made of. Is it soft?

Hello. The bottom of this desk is a plastic storage unit, it is not soft.
