Is adding foil to your projects something you've always dreamed about? Then the Foil Quill Collection is your dream come true. And, it's easier than you think! Get out your electronic die cutting machine, pick a heat pen and an SVG file, and get ready to add some of the most beautiful accents you've ever seen on your projects.

How to set up your Foil Quill pen:

  1. Select the appropriate adapter (A-Silhouette, B-Brother, C-Cricut, D-Sizzix) for your electronic cutting machine and attach the adapter to the Foil Quill pen.
  2. Insert the Foil Quill into the machine carriage and follow your machine's instructions for fastening it. If your machine has blade and pen carriages, use the pen carriage.
  3. Plug in the Foil Quill USB connector to a power source such as a computer, wall outlet, or power bank. If your machine's USB port contains power, you may plug the Foil Quill into it.
  4. Once the Foil Quill is in a compatible power source, it will light up.
  5. Place your heat resistant plate under the Foil Quill while you're preparing your project.
  6. Allow the Foil Quill 5 minutes to fully heat up prior to use.

Now that you're all set and ready to go, let's foil something. We R Makers has you and your unique projects in mind - that's why they've come out with a true rainbow of foil color choices for every occasion. From traditional gold and silver, to the ever-popular rose gold, and fun greens, purples, pinks and more. There's a color for every themed project, or to make a shiny rainbow on your handmade card or layout.

How to foil your project:

  1. Select the color and style of Foil Quill heat activated foil for your project.
  2. Trim the foil to the correct shape and size for your design. Leave about 1" of space on all sides of your foil.
  3. Adhere the Foil Quill placement tape to all edges of the foil and the surface of the material you're foiling so it is secure, tight, and has minimal wrinkles.
  4. Place your material on the machine's cutting mat.
  5. Follow your specific electronic machine's instructions for using the drawing pen option.

Tips and safety reminders for using your Foil Quill:

  • Always unplug your Foil Quill when it is not in use and never leave it unattended when it's on.
  • Do not touch the metal part of the Foil Quill, as it may cause burns.
  • Always use the Foil Quill on a heat proof, level work surface.
  • Do not exceed 3 hours of continuous run time.
  • The standard tip is recommended for regular everyday projects, while the bold tip provides thick lines, and the fine tip is used for detailed work and small fonts.
  • The Foil Quill was designed to be used with specific Foil Quill heat activated foil.
  • The Foil Quill system uses SVG file artwork.

Explore the entire Foil Quill Collection by We R Makers for thumb drives filled with amazing SVG images and sentiments, a rainbow of shining foil rolls and sheets, and endless possibilities. You'll be amazed at the gilded, shimmering results every time you use your Foil Quill.

    • Thank you for answering. By: Teresa Cristina (10-Sep-19) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • The Freestyle pen has multiple tips that can be used and it is easier to hold like an actual pen in comparison to the thicker barrel of the Heatwave tool. Also, the Heatwave takes batteries while these pens must be plugged into a USB port. Hope this helps! By: Scrapbook.com (10-Sep-19) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • Will this work with the original silhouette cameo?   By: Mtmacpherson (05-Mar-19) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • If your cameo has a ratchet blade it should fit, I have heard on you tube somewhere (I've watched heaps of them) that it will fit all cameos. I have just ordered my foil quill. I have a cameo 2 and have seen it work in this. Hope this is helpful By: Trotman (26-Mar-19) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

Do you need to use the magnetic mat with a Cricut Maker? Is it preferable than just a regular mat? Thank you so much.   By: User (01-Jan-20) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • It is not required to use the magnetic mat. However, some people like being able to use the magnets to hold down the foil instead of tape. Hope this helps! By: Scrapbook.com (02-Jan-20) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!
