    Nice but expensive

Very nice images, but some were poorly printed. The packaging and 75% of items were excellent.

  • The BEST of the Rest!

What is not to love about this collection of stunning die cut embellishments?! I’m frankly over the moon for them! I’ve certainly had no issues with poor printing, and I have 3 or 4 of these sets!

I’m afraid the previous reviewer either received a defective folio, or perhaps is unfamiliar with how Anna does her punch-out die cuts and stickers, where the design intentionally “bleeds over” the perforation line.

From Wiki: “Bleed is printing that goes beyond the edge of where the sheet will be trimmed. In other words, the bleed is the area to be trimmed off. The bleed is the part on the side of a document that gives the printer a small amount of space to account for movement of the paper, and design inconsistencies. Artwork and background colors often extend into the bleed area. After trimming, the bleed ensures that no unprinted edges occur in the final trimmed document.” Anna is renowned for her high-quality designs, and this is just one of the methods she uses to ensure this item’s perfection. (See the Wiki link, which provides more information, at the bottom of my review.)

I love that Anna provides such a large quantity of die cuts (288) that you can layer them, but I do leave some as a single layer, too. You’ll receive four copies of each page, so you choose what works for your design!

Anna designed these embellishments to go with her pocket cutting dies, hence the collection’s name, but they work just as beautifully as standard “embellies,” too. That’s how I typically use them.

P.S. A bit of an aside, but if you’re new to Anna Griffin, you may be interested to know that her designs are originally from centuries-old paintings, china, engravings, and so on. She has a museum-quality collection of such items from the 1700s through the 1950s or 60s, I believe. She reimagines the designs and alters their colors so they apply to our modern papercrafts. Anna’s passion for these designs stems from her childhood and love for the vintage/antique collections of her mom and grandmother. I believe Anna said that this collection was particularly meaningful to her, as its designs are originally from her mother’s own belongings.
