I thought punching the holes and sewing would get a little tedious. I loved the way stitching looked on other people's layouts, so I really wanted to try it. The hole punching is quick and easy, the sewing does get a little boring, but honestly it's worth it. Because they give you templates to use, it's almost impossible to screw up.

I have the Tim Holtz piercing tool but this particular Piercing Tool is made specifically for making the holes for sewing - it's a little bit bigger, which is important for the needle to go through the paper.
This is particularly important when you are also stitching through a photograph and/or dark cardstock. I keep this tool with my In Stich'z items and use it whenever I use the templates. I think that it is necessary to make the stitching easier!
I have always loved the look of stitching on cards and layouts, but after one attempt using a needle to punch holes, I swore I would never do it again...that is until I got this piercing tool! The nice sturdy handle makes it so easy to use. And I love that it comes in a plastic container with a lid...this way I can keep it stored safely away from my lil ones curious hands. I use it not only to mark holes for sewing, but also for using brads and fibers. I am just sure to place a mat (I use and old mousepad) under whatever I am piercing so I don't put a hole in my desk :)

I am so happy to have this paper piercer. I have been using anything from a large yarn needle and a pair of pliers to a nail to make my piercings but they have never looked as clean as this tool has made my holes. It is easy on my hands and it takes the work out of piercing. The piercer it's self is angled but for good reason. If it were striaght you would pierce your fingers every single time.
I reach for this tool about as much as I reach for my cutting knife. It not only pierces but it also helps me place small objects, unclog glue dispencers, make marks in paper without them being noticed, and it has saved me time and tons of money. I no longer have paper mistakes with this tool. For anyone using anything else to replace this tool it would be a wise investment to make. In my paper stitching I no longer have border breakage because my holes were too large or too small. I am saving paper from not having to start over and my pages look so much better.
The only downfall to this tool is the piercing needle is not completely centered in the handle although I was able to fix the slight lean easily. I don't know how I ever got a long without it now that I have it.
