    Organized ink!

I bought this because it was cheaper than buying the two 24-units individually- I don't use the swivel, I just have them sitting side by side on my desk. However, the swivel is really sturdy/quality should you want to use it. I don't know how much I would "travel" with this thing, other than perhaps from one room of the house to another, it seems like the inks could fall out if jostled too much. That said, all my inks fit (I have all manner of hobby-lobby-sold inks: versa, distress, staz-on, etc), and the sold-separate inserts are an absolute must for the distress inks - makes them fit perfectly. My only complaint is that it's boring black plastic, and I prefer natural materials. I'll have to spice it up, I think!

    Love it!

I have some ink pad storage but had all my distress ink pads in a drawer...and I love my distress inks so I had to remedy the drawer situation. I researched quite a few different storage ideas but I needed storage for the ink pads and reinkers so it came down to economy of space for me. This thing is the best bang for the buck!
It is quite large...it was hard for me to get perspective on the size, and once it is put together it is heavy so it won't be my go to for traveling. But I have mini inks for that!
What I can say...it is awesome for my needs! Just remember if you are going to store smaller inks pads, buy two sets of inserts...I didn't realize you needed two sets. Put the whole thing together anyway, ordered the second set which arrived today and put them in place.

    Excellent ink pad storage

I already own one of these along with the 2 marker buddies attached to the sides for several years. It has never quit! Everything is all in one place- ink refills, pads, and markers at the turn of your hand. A great space saver! I have acquired more ink pads and needed more storage so I didn't hesitate to purchase another. Went together very easily. I do not normally take this anywhere, but the pieces supplied can secure the unit quite well for travel, minus the ink refills.

    Great Buy

This unit is durable, compact and easy to assemble. The swivel base is smooth and made out of thicker gauged metal as compared to some others I've looked at. The assembly instructions aren't great, but they're adequate. If you buy the inserts (you will want to if you have Distress ink pads or small ones like those) just know that the inserts should be installed prior to putting the PortaInk together - the instructions don't mention that. I also like that should my needs change and I decide I'd rather have wall-mounted storage, I can just take this apart and hang it up.

    Great little Ink Pad Holder

I recently purchased this item and received it. It was very easy to put together and required minimal know how and tools. The lazy susan on the bottom of the ink pad holder is smooth although a bit noisy. This item holds my Stampin Up ink pads very nicely. The strip of plastic that you lock into place for travel is a little tricky and stiff, however, if done properly you get a snug fit and your inks will not fall out (even if trilling in a circle holding the ink holder).

if i want to use this exclusively to store stampin up ink pads, how many inserts would I need to purchase? And/or is the answer the same regardless of the ink pad brand? thank you   By: User (26-Jan-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. • You don't need any inserts for SU ink pads. If you have smaller ones like Tim Holtz distress ink pads then you need an insert for each pad, because they are too short. • Can this be taken on/off the swivel base as needed/desired or is it together permanently once put together? I'm interested in this as a travel unit but would like to put the pieces side by side when at home.   By: vmarsh (07-Dec-14) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • Yes, the Best Craft Organizer-PortaInk Dual Swivel Traveler will hold the Ranger Ink-Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads. By: Amber Boren (10-Sep-14) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • It will indeed hold the distress pads, very nicely. I have added the spacers to the back so I don't have to try and dig for them. I also put the name of the ink color on the side of the pad using a label maker. These organizers are a must have. I've had mine at least 8-10 years now and they have made two moves of more than 500+ miles. Held up great! By: ms.rhetta (08-Nov-16) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • What is the biggest inkpad (in INCHES) that will fit in the slots?
Janthos, you say Stampin Up inkpads DO fit this, but SU's ink pads are 4 .5" x 3 3/4" big. Debklparis says below that the slots measure only 7 CENTIMETERS x 7.5 cm big. That would be too small for the Stampin Up inkpads, wouldn't it? I primarily am interested in this for SU pads, so if they don't fit, I need to know!   By: jackiesfun (22-Jun-16) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! • I have a bunch of SU stamp pads stored in mine. They fit perfectly. By: ms.rhetta (08-Nov-16) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • I just received a private email answer from Customer Service from Paula Knight:

"I do apologize for my misunderstanding. I have measured the slots and the measurements are approximately as follows:

      3 7/8" wide x 7/8" high x 4" deep.

I hope this is the information needed.

Thanks for your interest in our site."

So it seems SU Stamp pads WILL fit! YAY!
Thank you Paula Knight for measuring the slots so we have a definitive answer from Scrapbook.com. By: jackiesfun (22-Jun-16) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

  • If I purchase as is for $47 do I need to purchase anything to actually use it. Keep hearing about purchasing inserts and I want something out of the box to hold the ink pad. Thanks Pat   By: pcheatham07 (08-Oct-15) Helpful Question?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This question has been reported. Thank you!
    • Depends upon size of your ink pads. Shorter ones like Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads needs the inserts. I learned this the hard way! I have many Distress Ink Pads, so I had to buy the inserts. Hope this helps. By: queenofcards63 (09-Oct-15) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!

    • You should be good to go, but be aware not all ink pads fit all the way in so you have overhang. Not sure what inserts they are talking about , but inserts come as part of the pkg. Hope this helped By: Paintingbear2 (10-Oct-15) Helpful Answer?  Yes  |  No Thank you! Report Inappropriate This Answer has been reported. Thank you!
