  This is not like Tim holtz stamp platform. There are no hinges the bottom part of the stamp platform is magnetic so there are four magnets to hold your paper down. So if you use a rotating background stamp this is the perfect platform to use. With your paper being held in place you are able to stamp one color, and then apply another color to your stamp and rotate and stamp and then repeat that two more times with other colors to get a wonderful looking background.   Hi there Darlene.... All Crafters Companion Stamping platforms(like this one but in diff't sizes)
  can be used with "most all unmounted stamps." (The quote is from Crafters Companion).
