This bundle includes one clear and one metal cutting plate for the Gemini die cutting and embossing machine (sold separately). The clear cutting plate measures 9" x 12.5" and is designed to protect your dies and other materials when passing through the machine. The metal cutting plate also measures 9" x 12.5" and is to be used only with the Gemini die cutting and embossing machine (sold separately). The metal plate should be flipped and rotated after each use to prevent bowing, but if it does bow, flip over and pass through the machine until it is flat again, and then continue to flip and rotate as normal (per the manufacturer's instructions). The edges on the metal cutting plate are sharp and not recommended for use by children under 14 years of age per the manufacturer's recommendations.
I'm disappointed how the plate warps so quickly. I do exactly what is recommended; however, after the FIRST run through the Gemini the cutting plate had a deep warp. I do love how the Gemini works with this one exception. For what the system costs, one would think Crafter's Companion could develop cutting plates. Even though they say you can still use the plates, placing the dies without taping them in place as not to slip out of place, isn't feasible. Since there are no other options to these plates, there is nothing else to recommend. We're stuck!

I love the machine. It cuts very intricate dies for the most part with one pass. . BUT I have only been using my machine a couple of months and have already broken a plate.
I had my Cuttlebug for almost 20 years and only broke one plate ever after years of use.
I got Gemini Jr for a gift to myself for retirement. I was looking forward to cutting intricate dies and because the Cuttlebug plates are no longer available.
Also, the plastic plate bowed so much with the very first pass. It shocked me so much I reread the instructions. I was using it according to the booklet directions. I flipped it and rotated it ( just like I have always done with my Cuttlebug) but it only got worse. ( I think the bowing of the plate was what caused the plate to break. )
I got so frustrated with it I put it in a pan of nearly boiling water for a few minutes then stuck it under a heavy piece of glass and books on top of that.
It did straighten it out, but it continues to bow. I heat it and store it under books everytime I finish using it. SUCH A PAIN !
The machine is made in the USA but not the plates. I would be happy to pay a few dollars more for each plate if they would last much longer.

I ordered this item to have on hand as a replacement. I wasn't expecting the Gemini to etch the plate with the dies as much as it is. I thought it would be a good idea to have a spare on hand so I ordered one.

I own most every cutting machine ever made. The Gemini is the only machine that will cut very intricate dies that other machines won't totally cut out !!! It is limited to only thin metal dies ( which is why I kept my Sizzix Big Shot ). I'm so glad that scrapbook.com carries Gemini plates !!! You need to replace them occasionally if they warp too much. They last a long time, but do need replacing eventually.

I have ordered these directly from Crafter's Companion but found between delivery and shipping costs, this is a much better deal. Received these within 10 days which is much better than waiting 10 weeks for shipment.

As all of you know, the plates are the most important part of your die cutting projects. I love the stiffness and long lasting quality of Gemini and am never disappointed with my cutting projects..

I realize that the Magic Mat is the newest thing right now, but I think I would be happy just staying with my old clear cutting plate! This seems to work just fine for me. I think my Gemini prefers it too.
