This was a really fun project to do. I used paint and modge podge to adhere some beautiful papers from Basic Grey to my tissue box. I also found that sanding the edges gave it a softer look and made it hard to tell that I had used several pieces of paper. It's also a fun seasonal project to make as there are many beautiful holiday papers and embellishments to use. And being a fairly inexpensive item makes it even better. I would say that it is one of my most favorite homemade home decor pieces.
This little box was easy and fun to do! They provide a great excuse to spend time with friends or family. They go together so easily and take so little effort that they are great for crops or smaller gatherings. And the finished product is so worth the time you put into it!! Please see my profile for photo's of two finished pieces (one is mine the other my mom's).
I loved decorating this box for my desk at work. Having the lid come off the top made it so much easier to alter. I've seen other versions where the bottom slides out. This would also work well with stamping as the material is quite stiff and would hold up to stamping down with little support from the other side.
This sturdy box, fits very snugly and it appears that it will hold up for a long time. Easy to cover with your favorite paper. I purchased to use for Christmas gifts for my early teen nieces to "go with" their room, ended up giving to my dil who is a first grade teacher, decorated to match her room theme. Fun to make something quick to give to someone.
