I’m pretty sure you can use Tom Holtz Ranger Distress Paint (acrylics) or his Distress Spray Stains which I use like watercolors, dipping brush into spray ink bottle & painting onto flower, softening with water, if you want a softer result. Be sure & get the regular Distress paints/stains...not the Distress OXIDE paints as IMO they are more chalky, not as translucent & vibrant. I have also completely painted the flowers with white gesso. When dry, you can paint as you like with above methods. I’ve also seen craft videos (google Pascale B. Craft videos or Olga Kravets craft videos. Both artists do a lot of demos for 49 & Market using flowers...very helpful...often with just watercolors). I would take a bloom or two & experiment/practice.
Hope this helps 😊🌸
